Motorola Z6c World Edition
Z6c Unlocked & in GSM mode image
Here's an image of my Z6c Unlocked in GSM mode while I was in Hungary last week. I got the unlock code from Verizon's worldwide service, and they gave it to me. it was easy to input, and worked perfectly over seas. Only problem was that I couldn't check how much money was remaining on my pre-paid SIM like I should have been able to. Whatever reason the phone doesn't have that capability.

Had the phone worked as you would have liked it to, how would you have checked on your remaining time? Would it have been through a phone call or would there have been something visible on the phone's screen? Don't they tell you your remaining time when you make a call? Thanks.

The phone worked great other than that snag. Battery life was twice as long too. Not sure how I could have checked my remaining balance. The way it was supposed to work is that I dial *102# and immediately get a SMS back telling me my exact balance, but the phone didn’t have that capability, it tried to make a telephone call rather than connect to the network like it should, like other GSM phones I’ve had.
I guess I could have checked the balance in a T-Mobile store which was on every corner of Hungary, but pressing *102# didn’t work like it does on normal GSM phones. I never bothered to go back in the store and ask the T-Mobile folks there how else I can check my balance. There must be another way though, like online or som...

VZW had similar models before (LG or Samsung?) which had problems switching from CDMA to GSM and back seamlessly. How does that work on Z6C? Thanks.

It worked great, I didn't have any transition problems. You can set the phone to be in CDMA only mode, GSM only mode or both. I manually switched it because it automatically searches for CDMA first, so it was faster for me to just set it into GSM only mode.

Thanks for the info. So if I can get an unlocked one, I do not need to get VZW contract. I can just work with my current provider - AT&T.

I didn't have any problems either. WOrked great. Mine is set to look for CDMA first then GSM so it did take longer but once it connected I didn't have any problems.
My battery did seem to last longer but I also wasn't using it as much because it cost so much.....I still have the Verizon sim

I just checked the Hungarian T-Mobile website, and looks like I could have made a call to check my balance:
You can continuously keep track of your DOMINO (pre-paid SIM) balance, the amount still available and the end of the availability period if you call the DOMINO centre.
• Call the DOMINO centre on 1777, a toll-free number when called from within Hungary.
• When you reach the centre, choose the menu option "Account information" by pressing 1.
The centre will identify you and then provide information on the amount still available, the end of the availability period and the end of the call number commitment period. The centre would only inform you on your balance, if you have called from your own DOMINO card.

whenever you got the subsidy code from Verizon, were you using the hungarian SIM or other? I already tried it with my hungarian T-Mobile SIM, but the subsidy code did not work, was invalid, so they just sent me a new phone, it's on the way...vagy csak szerencsetlen vagyok?🙂

Csak szerencsetlen voltal, or perhaps I was lucky 😁. Actually at the time I entered the subsidy code, I had a Hungarian Pannon SIM card in it, not the T-Mobile one. That is unfortunate that the subsidy code Verizon gave you didn't work ☹️

My new phone just arrived,inserted the T-Mobile SIM card, called Verizon Global and voila_ the new unlock code worked immediately. I am sure the previous phone had a software problem. I walked with that in to one of the VZW branch, nobody was able to help me, they didn't even know Verizon Global's phone number, and they told me no way that the phone would work with other carrier's SIM card..and no such a way to unlock the phone. I spent there more than an hour...helpless...Fortunatelly I already found this forum, which was very useful, thanks for everbody whoever posted here, so I was able to talk to Vzw Global, and they offered me to send a new phone immediately, thanks Global, you were professionals!
