Ringtones on Vu
yeah, so I was thinking when I bought this phone that I wouldnt have to pay for ringtones, and could just use custom ones with my SD card.
Well, everytime I try to put a 28second clip as a ringtone, it says FILE TOO LARGE TO BE USED AS RINGTONE.
I downloaded a couple from cingular, but I change ringtones like underwear, So im not gonna keep paying 2.50 for ringtones.
If someone could help me out with this it would be great..maybe gimme a way to shrink the file or something?
I DUNNo.

ringtones have to be a maximum of 300 kb... i know it's not that much. i use a program called audacity where you can input a song and trim it to your liking and then export it. for some reason i can only export it as a wav file, so then i use itunes to convert it to mp3. with audacity you can get around 15-20 seconds of a song as a ringtone. then i just send it to my phone using bluetooth. there are other mp3 trimmers out there, but i think audacity is the best for me.

Hey... just saw your post on here. Have you tried downloading the Audacity program through Sourceforge? I'ts free to use... very simple.... quick and then just bluetooth your file to your phone? That's what I did and in about 45 minutes I created and bluetoothed over 30 ringtones to my phone. I change rintones often too so I know exactly what you mean... 🙂
I'm looking for a utility to compress the size of the tones as well but with Audacity as long as I kept it under 30 seconds all of mine went through.

You can go to phonezoo.com and download free ringtones. You can also make your own. Lots of fun stuff there...

You can go to www.myxer.com or to www.mytinyphone.com. These are websites where you can get FREE ringtones that will work on any phone. I've done it on mine!
