LG Shine CU720
unlocked Shine and AT&T's services
So, with everyone complaining about this US version of the Shine, I have a few questions about buying an unlocked phone. If I were to buy an original unlocked Shine, I wouldn't be able to use the MobiTV, CV, XM Radio or download ringtones from AT&T with the US version, would I?
Also, has anyone confirmed that you can't use ringtones larger than 300k for personal ringers? Or that you can't change the text message ringtone?

No, you would not be able to take advantage of any carrier-specific services with an unlocked phone. Yes, you can change the messages ringtone, but you are limited to the pre-loaded tones that the phone comes with (can't download your own). However, these message tones are all pretty good. Unfortunately, you cannot use a custom ringtone that is larger than 300k. I download all of my own, and found this out.. However, most mp3 files i have are small enough - you can always shorten it or convert it if you really have a specific ringer you want to use.

Hmmm, thats what I figured. I really would like to use those features, so it looks like I'll be buying it from AT&T.
Also, everyone is complaining about the absence of the Schneider-Kreuznach Lens, but wasn't that only 2MP as well? Other than the auto focus, 2MP is 2MP quite honestly. The auto focus would be a nice feature to have though. Does anyone think it would be possible to do a little surgery and switch out the camera modules in order to gain auto focus?
One last question, hows the battery life on it? I always charge my phone every night, so I never see why people act almost disgusted if they have to, I guess i"m used to it.

Hmmm you understand wrongly. You could use all features with unlock phone.
For ringtone, you have to customize size under 300K unfortunatelly. I heard that AT&T may increase size of ringtone to bigger one and vendor including LG will support in future.
You could turn off "increasing tone" setting under setting to hear louder ringer.
