Non-Verizon OS Version??
bofisMay 29, 2008, 9:00 AM
Hey, any word anywhere if this phone will surface on Altell or US Cellular or some non-Verizon CDMA carrier in the US with the standard Motorola OS instead of the terrible Verizon one?
...
I actually like the OS on this phone, don't find it terrible at all...

Well I will have to go play with it at the vzw store I guess :-)

The W755 is running a new version of the Verizon UI that incorporates elements of the Moto UI. No more red bars and you can finally choose between grid, list, and tabbed menus. Although, Moto MAY release this on other carriers, the slight differences may not make it worth the hassle to go through the flashing process.

I now wish there were a Motorola UI for this phone. I thought I wouldn't speak bad about the Verizon UI, but I found the one on this phone to be more crippled than on my Samsung a930. At least I can add my own ringtones to my Samsung a930, and would play them. I add them to my Motorola W755, and while they show up in the ringer file, and in the list; it however won't let me set them as ringtones. I'm not sure what else this phone won't let me do. I do like the idea that it has OBEX, but found it to be too slow for my needs.
