Software upgrade
I see my earlier post (in response to my own question) got cut off somehow. Anyway, the latest software version for the W755 was released in mid-September. Updating to the new version requires a trip to a VZW corporate store and takes about 1/2 hour.
And yes, talking Caller ID works with this phone.

Cool, I checked "Phone Info" and got the following versions:
Software: COOL01_01.10.00R
PRL: 51101
ERI: 4
Browser: 6.2.3
MSUI: 11.0
HW: 300
I've had this phone for 10 days, and had a VZW corp. store do the software upgrade when I bought it. Hope this helps!
