Music as Ringtones

Kazzy

Jun 25, 2008, 7:19 PM
I bought a 2 gig SD card for my phone, and I've added music to the my_sounds folder in the card. The only problem is I can't figure out how to set them as ring-tones. I've tried putting the songs in the media folder and the my_music folder with no luck there either. Here are my folder options:
media
my_flix
my_pix
my_music
my_sounds

Can anyone help me out here? thanks!

Kazzy,

The only way i have found to do this is by sending yourself a text with the 'my sound' file included, and when you get the text, save the file as a ringtone.....kind of a pain, but it works.

One easy way of doing it is to record a voice note recording the song that you want to be your ringtone and set that as the ringtone. If that doesn't work you could also record a video of the song you want and make that your ringtone.

Both are a bit stupid methods, but they work quickly.

The phone won't read ringtones from the MicroSD card. You have to get it into the internal file system. There are two ways I know of:

1. As mentioned previously, send the ringtone or music clip to yourself as a text message attachment

2. Use a current version of BitPim. I use it all the time to sync my calendar and contacts. I've only created one ringtone from an mp3, but it works flawlessly.

You responded to a June 25, 2008 message. Kazzy, the original poster, posted only one time, has not posted anything since, and probably will not be reading your message.

And your point is what?

Every response that I've seen in my short time on the forum, to this type of question, has been to text the ringtone to oneself as an attachment. So either nobody knew about Bitpim, or Bitpim did not support the env2 at the time of the responses. Well I do know about Bitpim, and it now supports the env2.

What if the asker of the question still has his or her env2 (highly likely), and would like an alternative to texting, either because s/he doesn't like texting, or doesn't have a texting package?

What if someone just recently purchased an env2, like me, finds this forum, and has this same question? Do you not think it might be valuable to that new person to have an alternative to texting? This new person ...

Welcome to the forum. However, during your perusing of old threads, had you read my July 26, 2008 response (see above) to the original poster, you would have known that there is no need to install Bitpim or use any form of texting in order to use your own music as ringtones.

Since you appear to have missed it, here's the June 17, 2008 link that I placed in my July 26, 2008 message.

Instead of flappiing your jaws griping every time you see someone answer a question that happens to be old perhaps you should shut up until you can contribute by actually answering some questions.
