Having really bad problems with battery life
jlnyNov 18, 2008, 11:44 PM
I've had the enV2 for about 6 months and the battery just recently wouldn't hold a charge, about 5-6 hours tops. Verizon was really good about replacing it but the new battery now only lasts about 8 hours and is decreasing daily. All the reviews I've read rave about the battery life but i have never seen it. Any suggestions?

I also have 2 enV2's that don't hold a charge more than a day. Verizon claims it is the phone searching with the transmitter on full power when we are home in the mountains at night. If I leave the phone on at night but forget to plug it in, it will be dead in the morning. Verizon has a download *238 opt 2 that is supposed to fix the roaming issue but it has yet to work.

Sorry, but *228 only updates your phone's Preferred Roaming List (PRL). It can't "fix" a roaming issue if there are no cellular towers carrying Verizon's signal within range of your physical location.
Being "in the mountains" beyond the range of a CDMA cellular system will definitely keep your phone at the frustrating task of trying to connect to the system. That would surely deplete a battery quickly.

I agree it could be the service area, even if you have a hunch. You've ruled out the battery so it's down to either the phone itself, software or something being used that's draining it, or the coverage area stressing the phone/battery.

Are you overcharging the phone? Charging it over night is def overcharging it. That can effect your battery life. 2-3 hours max. Also low service can drain your battery. I live in a very low service area and if I leave my phone on when I get home....my battery dies very quickly (an hour tops). I hope this helped.
