Nokia E71 / E71x
E71x not recognized by Vista x64 when connected USB
Whenever I try to connect the E71x to Vista with the USB cable, it always shows up as an "Unknown Device" - even after I installed the PC Suite. I've tried all 4 USB modes on the phone: PC Suite, Mass storage, Image transfer, Media transfer.
So I have 2 questions:
#1 If anyone has been able to get the E71x recognized by 64bit Vista, how?
#2 Are there drivers for this phone that I can download?
I've tried both Nokia's and AT&T's tech support, but neither were able to answer. ☹️

Well, in case anyone besides me is searching for a solution to this: I just tried it out on Windows 7 RC1 x64, build 7100 today. Still doesn't work, even after installing all the latest software available.
This definitely seems like a driver issue for the E71x on 64-bit Windows. 😢
Also, I should note, that it's just USB I'm having issues with, Bluetooth works fine.

The only problem I had on my Vista machine was not having the default USB mode on the phone set to PC Suite. I also set it to always ask which mode I want. When you set it to PC Suite, does the PC Suite software recognize it?

i BELIEVE THAT NOKIA PC SUITE DOES NOT SUPPORT 64 BIT OS. I HAVE WINDOWS 32 BIT VISTA ULTIMATE AND RUNS GREAT. I DO NOT THINK THERE IS ANY SOFTWARE THAT IS 64 BIT. MY MOM HAS DELL WITH 64 BIT PROCESSOR FOR FUTURE SOFTWARE. I SETUP FOR 32 BIT VISTA ULTIMATE, FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY AND DID RESEARCH, FINAL REALIZED TO USE 32 BIT. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

I've got PC Suite 7.1.30.9 installed on my Vista/64 (Ultimate) SP1 system. I've been able to connect my E71x but it's been intermittent. Sometimes it'll sync, other times it won't.
I recently installed Ovi Suite 2.0.1.35 and so far it's been working reliably. I'm not crazy about the non-configurable scrolling displays of messages, photos, etc in Ovi Suite, ... but at least it (1) syncs automaticlaly when I plug in the phone, and (2) seems (so far) to be reliable.
