The phone is excellent and comes from HTC with great features. However; Verizon has disabled the GPS and the FM radio. I'm waiting for confirmation from HTC, but according to their website and the user's manual, it has an internal GPS receiver and FM receiver. But, Verizon has crippled these features. I can only assume it is to force people to use Verizon applications, which are not free, for similar features. No other cellular carrier treats it's customer's like idiots and takes advantage of them like Verizon. Once this is confirmed, I will return the phone and most likely switch carriers. I will seek professional advice because this is very unfair.
...
And so you rated the phone a "1". This is PhoneScoop, not ProviderScoop. Why not rate your provider, and give a fair assessment of the phone. You've given it the lowest possible rating, skewing the average rating, and yet started out with the phrase, "The phone is excellent..."
...
I thought the same thing. Why dis the phone because of the provider? A real DKHD obviously
...
It is a review of the phone. Verizon has disabled physical features of the phone. They have disabled the GPS, FM tuner, and cut the RAM by more than half. I would say that justifies giving a lower rating than the same phone from another provider. Phone scoop should create a different phone to be listed since the Verizon version is a physically different phone.
I would like to see how much RAM is now free after WM 6.1 and the HTC interface are loaded. I am guessing that it is something like 60 MB. And I wonder how the phone reacts, if it is very slow. I was looking forward to this phone, but now it looks like I am not going to get it. At least the Verizon version.
...
Yes, I see your point. However, on your own logic, this was still an inappropriate review, as it did not review the HTC Touch Pro described in the specs set out in the "Info" tab.
This person could have gotten his point across by giving the phone a fair review (again, his opening sentence began with call the phone "excellent"), and in the title to his review, make it clear that Verizon had crippled the unit. (He didn't even need to do this, as he's already flooded the forum with his complaints on the topic, but whatever).
Phonescoop tends to forget that people outside the US use cell phones refer to the website. I think it a mistake to go one step further and introduce "carrier specific" model discussions, which further limits the relevanc...

I do see your point and agree with you. The phone itself is a great phone. I have played with Sprints version and really like the phone. It has also gotten great reviews. It does bring down the rating of a great phone, because in reality, the Verizon version is not the same phone.
I dont know how to handle the different phones asides from having a seperate category if a carrier decides to change the hardware. But I also understand the other guy expecting to get one thing and getting a phone that is really entirely different. I know I would be upset.
...
EXACTLY!
The Phone from Verizon is not the same phone as listed on the HTC site or form other carriers.
...
What a rip off! How can a provider that not only got the phone dead last 😲 Even after alltel, charge more for the same phone as everybody else! Wtf not only does the phone cost more it comes with less 😳 WAY less then the Sprint Verision. 😎 Phonescoop should have given the Verizon model there own section!
...
Full retail is actually more for the sprint, they just have a lower 2yr contract price. With the exception of the stupid keypad redesign and the lowered RAM (and currently locked GPS..people wil have it free in no time) it pretty much the same phone.
...
Its not the same phone at all! If it were the same phone it would have the same features. The Verizon version has been dramatically crippled, Why? They are both made by the same company, why change the specs and charge more money? The sprint version looks totally different so I would hardly call them the same phone especially after what Verizon has done to it.
...
OK I went to my local Verizon store and saw the phone. I will need to go back to fully play with all the features, but at least I saw the basics.
It looks like there is 192 MB of memory in this phone. However, this doesnt seem like enough for this phone. It looks like Windows Mobile takes up almost 80 MB of RAM. The phone was only showing 113 MB of program memory. Additionally it looks like the Touch Flow 3D interface takes up about 60 MB of memory. I did a soft reset, and when I booted up, there was only about 60 MB of program memory available. To me this is horrible. I opened a few programs (web browser, word, and email) and I was down to 30 MB of program memory left.
The GPS feature is there. You need to download a program t...

If the GPS was enabled, It would work indoors.
because its relaying GPS info to the cell towers, and not speaking directly to any satellites. It's one of the few niceties of cellular GPS options.
The FM Radio works, no extra charge.
Howver the headphones need to be plugged in because they are the antenna.
I would think streaming audio programs over the wi-fi would be more fun.
...
FM radio requires the headphones be plugged in.
they are the antenna for it to work.
As for the GPS, this phone is one of a few that Verizon decided to "unlock" the GPS option for very soon. Meaning it will work with apps
other than VZ Navigator.
like Google Maps. Finally Verizon is trying to remove part of its head from its arse !
...
Verizon is finally unlocking GPS in it's smartphones. WinMo phones should be unlocked this spring. They did finally wise up 😁
...
just to throw in there. verizon disables many features on alot of phones. great example go ne where else n get a blackberry and you will get gps. go to verizon it isnt there. just expect this to happen with any smartphone or really any phone with features that they can sell.

If you're pulling from the global HTC site (didn't check it, don't need to), your information is wrong anyway, as the global information pertains to the non-US versions of the phone.
Also, I have the Alltel version of the phone, and I have 288MB of user accessable RAM available for use, on a stock ROM. I'm not sure where people are getting some of these numbers, but obviously, there's an issue here with reading comprehension. The US versions of the phone NEVER had FM, nor were they slated to. I've hacked all the CDMA versions but the Verizon version of the phone, and they are all the same.
Also, the VZW site STATES THAT THE PHONE OBVIOUSLY HAS 128MB OF RAM, and if you compare phones, the VZW version is not the TP that you're viewing...

Should've done your homework before you started crying on the internet. Sorry for your "wasted" time with this wonderful device, but a little SIMPLE reading could have saved a lot of time for everyone. This information could have been gained in less than two minutes, just by hitting www.htc.com/us/ . Maybe next time you'll do more research, before you buy a phone, and trash it like you've done this one.

HTC is quoting that the Fuze has 288MB of RAM, however, I have found several that report only 128MB of RAM. I'm not sure if it was a software issue, where the remaining RAM was not registering, or if for some odd reason, those models had incorrect hardware.
I'm going to run with an error in the cooked ROM, causing a malfunction, but I've never actually seen that myself before. I have heard about it, but not seen it.
