GSM SIM Locked?

I wonder if they are going to allow unlocking of the SIM so when traveling with the phone you can use a local SIM card with a local number?

In some cases using the Verizon card with your US number would be nice but sometimes you want a local number. Ideally a phone could have two cards, the Verizon one with your US number and a local one. Either registering both or allowing the user to choose from a menu without opening up the phone.

I've been wondering the same thing about this phone, the Samsung Saga and the Blackberry Storm. There is nothing on the Verizon website that says that any of these phones will be unlocked. However, there also was nothing on the Motorola Z6C website that led one to believe that it would be unlocked and yet Verizon did unlock it. We'll just have to wait and see.

If the phone is unlocked, I assume that access to U.S. GSM carriers will be blocked. Would the same be true regarding Canadian GSM carriers since Verizon has roaming agreements with Canadian CDMA carriers?

I've read you have to keep a contract for 90 days. Then the SIM will be unlocked.

I have a Motorola Z3C world phone. It came with the verizon SIM. I wanted to use it in several countries using 3rd party SIMS. No problem!!!!!

I called Verizon world services department and they immediately gave me the unlock code for my phone.

Worked perfectly - good luck, 🙂

Can I buy this phone to use with a 'Pay-as-you go" carrier (not Verizon),such as T-mobile or Tracfone, Virgin Mobile, etc., inserting a SIM card from them (not Virgin, since it's CDMA)? Will I be able to unlock the phone either via Verizon or some other way?
