HEy all,
I'm thinking of trading in my Storm for this phone but the one thing i hear is how quickly the battery dies.
Omnia users can you please let me know how much use do you get before its dead. And how much of the time spent is using the wifi???
thanks,
Possible BB switcher

Thats a misnomer. The only Winmobile phone with short battery life is the HTC Touch Pro.
I get a full day on my Omnia with plenty of usage on it. Though my phone is new right now and i am using it more, I am guessing I will use it much less as time goes on. But for now I get at least 15 hours on it with moderate usage. I have also gone over 24 hours with minimal usage. I think the life is getting longer as the battery gets conditioned with recharges right now.

Thanks for info. I'm thinking of trading my buggy storm. Or waiting for the os fix.

God bless you if you get a full day.. I use the mp3 in the morning for about 60 minutes and a few calls after that, and by 11am, its more than half dead.. âšī¸

i agree.. my battery life is terrible

My battery life is pathetic is too -- unplugged the phone around 11am yesterday morning, turned off WiFi but left Bluetooth on, took one or two phone calls, and by 6pm, I was getting warnings that my battery was dying.

my battery life if also terrible. It lasts about 5 hours, small usage during that time

Maybe we should ask all the users at phonearena were they got there omnia...they all say there battery life is great mine was terrible returned it saturday went back to my dare. đ

sadly i have to agree also. I have had my Omnia for about 2 weeks now and the battery life is the worst i've ever had. I always make sure i end all tasks and keep WiFi and bluetooth off and the battery wont even last a half of day. I do a little bit of texting and some web browsing and its already warning me of low battery. Maybe 3-5 hoursof batery life from full charge with fairly normal use. My Lg Dare killed the game when it came down to battery life. That thing would last me 2 days with doing about 300-500 texts a day and internet browsing with playing music and calling! other than the battery life this device is awesome!

This may seem strange, but I think over time, the battery life got a little better on my phone. Maybe that is because nothing else worked.

This device does not last me half a day. It wouldn't even let me turn the phone on when the charger was plugged in! I put the thing to sleep w/ broadband shut off and it shuts off and won't wake up easily. Even connected to the computer and 'charging' the battery still runs down.
The last thing I want to worry about is if my phone will make a call.
Got mine from Verizon in the mail.

My Omnia is pushing 72 hours of continuous operation now and I have 1/4 battery left on the battery bar on this 3rd cycle of using and testing.
I've been using and testing all the features and the battery has held up very well.
Sure hope it continues to do so!
Fully charged the battery after purchased.
1. Used Omnia 48 hours before recharging.
2. After recharging, used it 39 hours with a large amount of Bluetooth operation and then recharged.
3. Now...on the 72 hour cycle and it's still going.
Hoping for the best as this feature rich phone is doing great!

I am having the worst time with battery life! I have turned off wifi and the bluetooth, disabled beams and close all applications - and my phone is still dead before I get home in the evening! (Less than 12 hours of use) This is with what I consider very light usage: maybe a dozen text messages, a couple short phone calls and my pushed Outlook email. Has anyone found any fixes for this issue??? Help! I want to like this phone.

Are any of you using Verizon's Wireless Sync? I'm almost certain this is why some of you are experiencing low battery life while others are not. This program, especially the PC Monitor version where you have to download a program to your phone, draws HEAVILY battery life. I used to use it on my Moto Q back when and it literally cut the battery life in half or more. Other sync programs draw battery life just the same. Every time your phone does a sync it just sucks up the battery. It almost makes a cool PDA phone basically useless. It's best to use an actual Exchange account to sync wirelessly. The syncing is obviously done via internet which takes the workload off your processor. Of course this costs a monthly fee. I use Sherweb which gives...

Interesting information and worth looking into.
My Omnia:
Battery lasts 48 to 72 hours before there is a need to recharge.
I am NOT using Wireless Sync as of yet.

Also, in addition to the wireless sync issue, it's a known fact that CDMA format actually draws on the battery a bit more than GSM. I found this out when my gf and I had the same exact blackberry. However, she is with ATT and I am with Verizon. Her phone battery lasted a about 2 hours longer than mine. I did some extensive research and found that CDMA does actually cut your battery time by at least 5-10%. However, it's really not enough to want to change carriers. It's likely only noticeable when added to the existing battery-drawing wireless sync issue. This info about CDMA was only brought to attention only when I noticed that the battery life spec was listed lower on the Verizon site then it was on the ATT site. We did a test and found it...

Ok I'm new to smartphones. After spending a few days doing a little research, Omnia looks like the best choice for me. The only thing holding me back is the battery life issue. I'm a student and my school uses exchange for email. I want to be able to sync wirelessly with email, calandar, and tasks every 15-30 min. Can I use ActiveSync for over the air syncing without sucking up my battery and without having a PC running all the time?
...
Use wireless sync but stay away from PC monitor". Tech support will explain the difference. Also, remember that this is a Windows format device e which means you need to remember to end the tasks using Task Manager. Just Xing out of a program will not close fully it. Open programs draw the battery as well.
...
If I don't use PC monitor then I will only be able to sync my email and not my calandar and tasks. With ActiveSync can't you sync everything without having to leave a PC on?

turn on wi-fi power save mode and the brighness power save mode. made a significant difference in battery life for me... now getting 3 days of battery life with normal use.
...
I have both enabled since I got my omnia and my battery does not last a day.
I got battery life up to 3/4 of a day (from 1/2 day) by recharging it after it said it was charged.

Do you live or work in an area most of the day where signal strength is low? That could be potential a drainage issue.
I use to work in a building a few years back where my signal was 1 or 0 bars. My Moto V710 which would last 2 days anywhere else, would only last 6 hours at work.
The reason why Verizon and Sprint have much higher battery drain on their phones is because the CDMA technology has a more intracate algorithm in processing calls/data/standby, etc. The devices use more processing encoding/decoding the signal thus requires more power, thus draining the battery faster. And when your phone has low signal, it has to work/process even harder to lock in the signal so battery drain increases. Just think of it like this. You are r...
