Samsung Omnia i910
3G speed
When using native data connect, how can I verify that I am getting 3G speed? WHen I do anything that requires data access I get a bullet that says something like 'connecting to broadband access via telephone, dialing #777. There is also another setting on the phone that says Broadband Access (dialup). It seems contradictory to me that broadband can be a funtion of dialup? How does broadband happen on this phone?
Thx,
Joey
Generally, however, you are only fully "dialing in" once in a while; most of the time the connection goes into a suspend mode, where the phone can get info from the servers quickly one a connection is established.
Look at the icons at the top of the screen, they'll tell you what's going on when.
You can verify 3g by using one of those speedtesting websites. although i am not sure how accurate they would be for our phone.
I too, receive the same...'connecting to broadband access via telephone, dialing #777
I have a question. Is there a setting somewhere on the Omnia to "Block" this broadband access connection and the dialing #777 and keep the Phone active?
You can block wifi by disabling. But, I have not found a way to block the broadband access except by disabling "Phone". I have found Connect, Disconnect and Delete selections for Broadband Access. At times, I would like to block broadband access while keeping Phone active. Or, do I want to block broadband?
As for the Omnia displaying on the screen the 3G Icon, it does not on mine. Only Ev or 1X. Last night, I was visiting the Howard Forum...
