Samsung Omnia i910

To reduce the number of device-specific chargers I have to keep in my cars I use a USB Lighter plug. It works for my 3 Motorola phones, Garmin, Navigon NAVs .. BUT NOT FOR THE OMNIA?!?

The same synch cable charges the phone when it's tethered to the USB on my PCs.

Is the USB connection on Verizon's version of the Omnia different than all the other electronic devices on the planet?

I have now cracked 2 screens just having my omnia in my pocket for a little while. The second time it was even in a cell pocket on my thigh. Has this happened to anyone else? I don't want to always have to wear the thing on a belt (or be afraid to pocket it).

Any recommendations for a case/ skin that would not have to be worn w/ a belt clip all the time? I saw a post for the carrymobile case. Just curious what other folks are doing to protect their screens.

FYI, the 2nd phone screen felt like glass sandwiched with plastic, while the first felt like glass.

Using Opera9 which works fine but clicking on links in e-mail msg produces this error:
"File OperaL cannot be opened. Either not signed with trusted certificate or one of components cannot be found"
Any suggestions?

I just got the Omnia and I really like it but I don't really like the startup screen or some of the other screens on it.

Has anyone tried some of the replacements.
I downloaded a phone locking program and a mobile extension called PhonEx by Iconsoft.

I have had a voyager since last fall, and it's a decent phone, but it's not a smartphone and if you aren't paying for the browser/mobile tv/gps package then you aren't getting too much out of the phone. I feel I am ready to upgrade to a smartphone, and the omnia had a great list of features that got me interested.

I don't have an upgrade with verizon until march 2010, but if I can get an omnia through ebay and bring it in to verizon I can add it onto my family plan without having to start a new contract or change my existing one (other than adding the phone's monthly data plan).

what I would like is some words of advice from people who own the phone, whether it is worth upgrading to, and also a question about the data plan:

does anybody know if it's possible to enable the storage of the omnia to be used to share files with an xbox 360? it seems possible. for example, on my ipod nano after enabling this setting via itunes, even though it's mac formatted, if i plug it into a 360 via USB it will allow the console to read and play all of my non-DRM protected music. i tried the same with my omnia and while the 360 will charge it, it does not show up in any of the media folders. any thoughts? i'm thinking it would be really nice to be able to stream music / video to an xbox.

Hi..I have read about a low battery beep that can't be stopped without a reg edit...is this true...I reall dont want to mess with the phone, is there a simple way to solve this? Thanks.

This Omnia is the first Smartphone I've used that doesn't auto-fill the "TO:" field in email or text? I just moved from the VX6800 and previoulsy used the Palm Treo 700w. I'm fully sync'd w/ all of my Outlook info. Anyone know what's up?

I just purchased The samsung Omnia. Great phone. My question How can I store pictures to my 1 gig card instead of the internal memory?

I have the i910 and MS Voice Command works fine for recognizing my speech actions, succh as dialing by name. However, I have it set to notify for every option possible, calendar alert, SMS notification, new email, etc. I have it set to come thru the speaker phone and I have free time unchecked. I never get notified via voice command that I have new mail or anything else, I just get the normal default ring tone. It's supposed to speak the name and subject of a new email, right? Mine refues. I have MS Voice Command ver. 1.6.20276

I recently got my omnia and so far I like it. I tried putting some mp3's in the my music folder and was shown a message that i ran out of space, so I deleted them. Ive since put 1 mp3 that I use as a ringtone in the my storage area. NNow every few seconds a box pops up on the main screen that says "Storage memory is critically low. if the storage memory is not increased, other programs may not be able to start, use file explorer to delete files that are no longer needed or move some files to a storage card." So I go to file explorer and it shows that my storage memory is pretty much used up. What do i delete? i see no files, can anyone help me out??

I just purchased the Omnia. I just finished charging and activated. I'm trying to align screen. I aligned them but it goes back to the middle. I haven't finished the activation yet. So anybody please let me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

I don't run widgets. The only way I've found to access the wireless manager which I use to turn off broadband and bluetooth (this saves battery!) is to touch the tiny antenna icon in the top bar and then touch the wireless manager link in blue. Too many steps and too small.

OK so heres the deal...
--I transferred close to 500 songs to |My Storage| folder in my Omnia....and when I play it on WMP, it plays a few seconds of the intro and switches to the next...and the error message says something like "not enough memory to play this file"

Ok after having this error happen to basically 20 songs...i take it that its gonna do that to EVERY SONG....sooo

How do i fix it...OR How do I uninstall this crappy WMP >_> i never really liked it lol...

Also, is there a 3rd party app that can help me customize my Widgets? because I dont like that help in there...kinda past that basic tutorial and im more so in the advance process of figuring out how to go from here to there in my Omnia D:

Just got my Omnia and am liking it so far. Time to buy a bigger memory card as I'm just using the 1GB card I had with my old phone. I'm wondering if anybody is actually using a 16gb card and if they have any trouble with it. From what I'm seeing, the 16gb cards only come in class 2 speed. Will that be a problem? Should I go with an 8gb class 4? I'd really like to get that 16gb storage, but not if I can't play my mp3's or movies off of it. I played a movie off of my 1gb card, which I can only assume is class 2 since it's so old, and it played fine, but I'm worried as I add more applications and files if speed will become more important later. Anybody with any advice?

Okay all you seasoned Omnians, tell me, where is and how does the flashlight on the Omnia work???

After some extensive research online through forums and blogs, I have found a way to make your own ringtone/alert as your sms alert. I took one of my songs and just cut about 3 seconds of it and then stored it inside the Windows folder of your Device and now my SMS alert is my song!!

First off you are DOING THIS AT OWN RISK!! I took the risk and am glad that I did!!

First you need a registry edit program to do this! I have PHM registryedit. (google it)

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SECURITY/PHONE/SKIN
Click ENABLED & then Change the Value Data to 0!

Save and close out of regedit and wait about 30 seconds and then do a soft reset! All done and no more keypad lock and a much better look than the Windows Default!!
