ok the Blackberry Tour has been announced... I am considering the trade to it when it comes available in a few weeks on Verizon. What do you all think?

The Tour basically has the Storm's guts with I believe one major exception...more app memory. Menu's are more storm like than Bold.

Keyboard and trackball vs touchscreen is really what it comes down to probably.

Wow I should have just scrolled down I created a new thread based on the samething. I am sold on the Tour as long as it is the best parts of the Storm with a Qwerty keyboard to boot.

If Blackberry would develop a slide out qwerty and keep the screen Storm size, everyone would change to that device. But keeping the same ole, same ole (bold, curve, tour) etc. just does not cut the cake, unless you like all your info condensed into half the size, which I do not like. That design limitation keeps the Storm as my game in town...

I haven't seen a slide out I have been happy with yet. The phone tends to bulk up a bit

Aside from the necessary bulk of a real keyboard, is there ANY Storm owner who can actually type a sentence without numerous typos? Anyone possessing pencil fingertips? from Ethiopia, maybe?

This device, no matter how careful I try to be is TYPO CITY! Its a toy! I am convinced that it was designed for Barbie doll-sized people. As for the bulk? Get me a phone with a real keyboard...full size screen...and un-toy like keys and I will deal with it even if a hand truck is required or some gym training to carry the thing around.

The Storm has a distinction. It is the worst device for adults to type with, ever designed. Its like cutting a diamond, you have to be THAT careful. Any hard hunt & peck keyboard would leave it in the dust.

I agree that the storm is TYPO-CITY. So with that said the Tour might be a great choice. A lot of Storm qualities, half the screen size and a real keyboard that frees up the processor to run apps and no keyboard stuff.

The tradeoff is simple. If you compose or reply to numerous emails & txt msgs, The Tour is the choice, hands down. All other times when not utilizing the qwerty, your holding a device with partial accommomdation (half the phone is the freakin keyboard)!

If you use the Storm mostly for calls and display information, your getting nearly twice the performance from the screen. Its obvious which one wins there.

To share my experience, I hardly ever use the pathetic keyboard on my Storm. I also carry a second phone (LG Voyager) which buries the BB's Sure Tap Typo Guaranteed exercise in futility. For emails, the old fashioned way, a desk top or my lap top.

Now if my Storm wasn't glitched, (new surprise breakdown, lock up, battery d...

Rumor is that the Tour screen is beautiful.

The resolutions listed on this sight are identical for the Storm and the Tour. The screen size...Tour 2.4" diagonal vs the Storm 3.3" diagonal, defines a major consideration. Its hard enough to read info on the Storm. But if you eliminate nearly 1" diagonal from your view, its like your looking at the digital camera screen. Ever see the difference between a viewfinder 2.5 vs one close to 3.5?"

One's priorities dictate the choice here. For me, I can live with the lousy keyboard on the Storm. RIM will wise up one day and equip the phone with a pullout, slider, or clamshell hard-key qwerty, and, in doing so, keep the screen full length phone size. For that device, everyone will live with the extra thickness.....

u can always make the font bigger, thats one thing i love about blackberries and dont like about my iphone. and honestly i hardly made mistakes typing on the storm. i did make some, but could do multiple sentences without error. after using all the recent bb's with the exception being the tour, i would say the iphone 3gs keyboard is the best. it just works, though i cant type a full word without the click sound, that sounds crazy but its true. everyone is saying (boy genius, engadget, ect.) that the tour w/ vzw is a match made in heaven. all is there except wifi.

I purchased the Tour on day of launch after being in the Storm since November. The Tour is not as impressive as I would have expected. It is actually like a fancier version of my old 8830.

I am selling my Storm which is a brand new replacement not a refurbished, since my last two Storms died. It is in mint condition and it comes with the docking station, car charger, plastic belt clip and 2GB card. I am keeping the 8GB card since RIM is too cheap to have given it to me with the Tour. $300.00 firm.

To anyone that is coming from a Curve I guess it is awesome. Me coming from the Storm which is very cool I was not impressed.

I have fallen back in like with the Storm. The clear screen and the added stability of the latest OS release have kept me from doing what I was inclined to do - run out and get the Tour. I especially concluded that after seeing my wife's new HTC Ozone - which has a full keyboard but reminded me what a phone is like when you lose half of the screen to a keyboard. So I am staying with the Storm!!! (For now)
