Is there anyway I can get my movies to play using the entire screen instead of inside a smaller letterbox (landscape mode)?

i played with pixels like 480x240 some will get a little taller but there was always a black bar top and bottom. Maybe I just didn't have the right choice in my program but I don't believe it will ever be full screen.
