It's a phone. Rugged, no hinges or sliding parts or external antennas to come loose or break off. Quad-band with a good selection of features, and the 8GB card is helpful. 1000 addresses in the phone memory, you can create 10 different groups within the address book to blast messages. The rubber armor not only protects it if you drop it, it keeps it from sliding out of your pocket. There is an "O" ring around the battery compartment to seal the cover when closed for water resistance. "Pretty" phones just don't take the beating of active life very well.
