Hi everyone, I have been wanting this phone since it was first talked about a long time ago but was going to settle for the blah- blah iphone. But to my surprise when I checked my e-mail on May 8th I read about a discount on the Nokia page saving $244.65. Wow,with a bluetooth headset included. Thank you Nokia. I have checked 3 times LOL with order support and my order did go through. Now with that being said, I have never bought an unlocked phone before and I am hoping that I can get it set up with all the stuff like voicemail, mms, and especially the web. Does anyone think this will be a problem with our friends at AT&T?
Thank you in advance.
Also, order support told me that the ship date is about 2 weeks or maybe sooner

Are you sure you're getting the NAM version? Post the link where you ordered! Yeah, I'd have to agree, it's by-by iPhone time for me too!

I wonder why anyone would ever order a Nokia from anywhere but their site? I wonder if there is something advantageous I don't know about those venders?

I got the same deal that Frank D did (I just happened to be up at 2AM when the glitch was allowing that discount).
This is actually my first time ordering a phone from Nokia's website, even though I've had plenty of S60 phones over the past few years. There are other places you can go to get phones for discounted prices. My preferred site has been dell.com, which sells Nokia phones at a discounted prices PLUS I get a company discount there.

an unlocked nokia smartphone will ask what network you want to use it on and configure itself to network settings

wow.. that is a smart phone. thought that i would at the mercy of att customer service. never had a unlocked phone before. thanks for the info. 😁

i don't have the n97, but i got the 5800xm. it's the same OS as the n97. no trouble at all setting up to att's network. fyi, i also only pay for the 15$ data plan also. i think that is because it is unbranded, meaning not touched or disabled by att...it's a cool phone. the rep at nokia said the 5800xm was very similar to the n97, only no real qwerty keyboard, its touchscreen only. i think yuo will not be dissapointed. if i had the extra money, and no wife, i probably would have ordered the n97.. ENJOY!!!!!! 😁 😁 😁

I'm new to the world of unlocked phones. Are you telling me, on AT&T network and with an unlocked phone you fan get away with paying $15 bucks a month unlimited data?! Wow please, please say yes! LOL
...
yes any unlocked nokia phone is allowed to use the 15 dollar data plan on att. Thats one reason i've used them for all these years, cheap data.
Att will even tell you this as long as its a phone that att does not sell themselves.
And the n97 will set the phone up correctly for att by just inserting the sim card, mms, internet, etc. All nokia s60 phones do this.

And even your voice mail number. AT&T has no idea what this phone is when you use it. They don't have the imei on file since its not going through their branding. AT&T now sells the E71x, when using my unlocked bought in November E71, it shows up blank.

i think i want to clarify unlocked vs. unbranded. unlocked Sally means sim-unlocked. that means you are able to use it on any network that uses gsm. unbranded means that the carrier company has not got a hold of the device and messed with the software. or i should say modified the phone. the phone comes as the manufacture designed it. thats why i like the nokias. att does not sell them and the phones are great. and yes i only pay 15$ and i assume w/the n97 it will be 15$'s too. if i am incorrect about the unlocked vs. unbranded issue anyone is free to correct me. this is the way i understand it.
