HDMI?
I'm having a hard time understanding what I would want to use the HDMI out on this phone for. I understand that you could show movies you've taken on your phone on a TV, and if you're watching music videos you could do the same, but does that really make it a great feature? Just not sure that this phone is enough of an improvement over the S30, or even the original Instinct (which I have and LOVE LOVE LOVE), especially considering that the S30 was hardly a great improvement over the original.

The bigger feature is that you can record true HD video. That's extremely rare.
It also has a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera for still photos, which is pretty decent (certainly a huge step up from previous Instincts.)
More display resolution is always a welcome improvement... and WiFi... really, there are a lot of improvements. The S30 wasn't really designed to be an upgrade over the original, but this is.
As for HDMI out... you're right, I don't think that's the main selling point, but why not? It can't hurt to have it.

I had the orig. Instinct and then the S30.. I have the Pre now, but I just tried the HD for 3 days.. If I never had the Pre, I would keep the HD. If you love the INSTINCT(s), then you'll love this.. The cam and video are AWESOME!! The UI is pretty much the same, but snappier.. The screen is much nicer and it is capacitive, not resistive, though no multi touch. Plus WiFi, and Opera 9.7 makes it the best thing out there thats not a "smartphone"..

Think of it this way, with the phone being capable of recording 720p @ 30 FPS the phone has basically become your camcorder.
At this point in time, most new digital camcorders using either hard drives or flash memory have at best an HDMI output and at worst some kind of analog composite video output. It's all about convergence. How likely would you be to show someone your home movies if you had to sit at the computer and convert them and make a DVD every time vs. being able to just connect the camera to the TV and show them straight away. Convenience is key. Now, they could have increased the convenience factor by including a mini-hdmi to hdmi cable, but they're about $6 online so whatever.
I like to think that I may post something to Yo...

I'm confused about the video out feature on the Instinct HD. Does this work only when playing back recorded video and photos or does it also work to display Sprint TV content on your big screen home television? If so, that would be amazing. I'm hoping that's the case.
