While I feel for you, and I think the iPhone should be available through all carriers, I wouldn't hold my breath.
...
Not that I want one, I just want to sell them to suckers that want them! 🤣
Though, admittedly, the 3Gs looks very tempting at that $200 price point. It makes for a good feature phone.
...
i will be getting mine friday moning
...
I ordered one last Monday when announced, maybe it was Tuesday for my daughters Birthday, btw her Birthday happens to be the 19th.
...
All I-Phones have one thing in common. They have an issue in their software that displays "ID-10T" error when used too much. 🤣
...
classic i.d. 10 t everyone knows that the iphone will display this upon purchase but it goes away once you plug it into itunes and gets upgraded to ID10T
...
Gonna be a long while befor we see a CDMA verion of the phone...But for you guys that think you'll get one soon good luck..Im just glad to own an IPHONE 3g soon to be a 32 gb 3G S while times a wastin
...
AT@T customers and iPhone users, they saw you coming a mile away!
...
You're the prime example of why Iphone users have such a bad repuation. Lets talk about how at&t is going to cap your data usage. While you're paying so much money for limited text and data I'll continue to enjoy my unlimited uncapped web on my blackberry. Sorry but I prefer to keep my reliable CDMA service, and whenever I want to play use my Apple touch to pretend to drink beer with.
...
Your "unlimited" blackberry data plan if its a current Verizon data plan has the same 5 gb cap, if it doesn't have a cap its a grandfathered data plan. Either way you have little room to brag.
...
To correct you there is only a 5 gig cap on tethering only on blackberrys whenever you just have a data plan without tethering it is unlimited
...
Well as long as I have an I phone and you don't it makes it all worth the wild
...
And I guess having UNLIMITED data is all worth wild for me. Using Wifi at Starbucks doesn't count.

my data is unlimited on my 3gs. and honestly, i used to work for vzw and have all the vzw phones, and now i have att and coverage depends on area. u might not want to believe it, but sprint doesnt work everywhere, neither does vzw or att or tmobile. in my area i think att is faster data wise then vzw and sprint (friends have sprint), but vzw voice call is better then att. its all about ur area. and i played with the palm pre and man that sh*t feels like a joke
...
I agree with you in U.S. CDMA is much more reliable then GSM. specially when your on a Verizon net work. I had both network so I can speak for my self.
...
It will be a LONG LONG LONG LONG time there will be a CDMA iPhone or even doubt there will be one. But why would you want a CDMA... CDMA is outdated old technology, GSM is the way to go, GSM is worldwide. LTE is GSM. 3G HSDPA is GSM. so yeah...
...
umm you do know that GSM is older, and that CDMA allows for much better data transfer, and the way the market is moved more towards data than actual voice, GSM will eventually just switch over to CDMA..
...
Well since you are both wrong, the iPhone uses UTMS network, or the HSDPA (which is an updated UTMS network) it has transfer rates up to 7.2 mbps. So how fast can CDMA go? I don't research dinosaur technologies. 😎
...
🤣 yes, CDMA is dinosaur technology. You cant do data and voice at the same time, that sucks huh? thank goodness theres GSM. oh yeah.. UMTS and HSDPA is a network, but also use GSM too.
...
Basically I just love this conversations about Verizon getting the iPhone. Its not going to happen anytime soon but hey if you want to hold onto the dream feel free. Not to mention tell me how being on Verizon would be any different would still pay the same amount and have slim chance of international travel.
...
Well...perhaps you should research the old dinosaur technologies. The iphone uses UMTS which is otherwise known as WCDMA or Wideband Code Division Multiple Access. Does that sound familiar? It should as WCDMA is based off of CDMA and HSDPA is simply and upgraded technology to UMTS. What this all means is that your iphone essentially uses a version of CDMA for it's 3G service. The specs for the iphone even list the modes that the iphone uses as WCDMA...not UMTS.
I guess this means that CDMA is capable of quite a bit of speed and you are enjoying it on your iphone.
...
Thanks for the update and the assumption, I use a Blackberry Bold. HSDPA is still an update regardless of it being based on CDMA technology. If Verizon can work off it please let me know, lol.
...
Verizon's plan is to skip past the updates of current EVDO technology and move towards LTE, so I don't forsee them spending more time on other upgrades. Future devices will be dual band phones operating on CDMA for voice and LTE for data.
...
That wonderful for them, well we will still outsell them with the iPhone 4G (which they once again won't have) I hope you enjoy the Blackberry Storm 3
...
That is when/if At&t ever decides to go to a 4g technology. I love people comparing the Storm to the iphone. They are 2 completely different devices with different target markets. The only real comparison is that they have a touchscreen. Personally I don't care to access the internet on a handheld device. I don't care if Safari is beautiful...It is on a screen that is less than 4 inches. If I want to surf the web...I have a laptop with a 17" screen. I don't need a device to play games...if I did...I'd buy something that was purpose built for that like a DS or a PSP which outshine the iphone for games. The Storm with the updates that were recently released is a solid device...especially for email and other business uses which are what the Bla...

So explain to me why the Storm hasn't outsold the iPhone yet? Explain to me why people who have AT&T are whinning about wanting the Storm for AT&T? Because we have the Bold which outshines the Storm in everyway. The iPhone has a ton of functionality. And good luck with carrying a 17" laptop in your pocket.
...
Well...as a matter of fact there are several At&t customers that have unlocked the Storm in order to use it on At&t's network...even with it only being capable of EDGE data speeds in the US. The iphone is marketed in such a way as to appeal to a far different crowd of people as well. Once again...let me reiterate my original position. The Storm and the iphone are not comparable devices. They have a different target market and different users. The iphone is sold globally while the Storm is only sold in the US by Verizon and Europe by Vodaphone. Plus...just to throw it in there for you...the storm has only released 1 version, and it has everything the iphone 3G S has, but it has had it all along. Oh...and you can send mms before the end of the...

the iPhone in case you haven't heard is the top selling phone of all time, beating out the Razr. I also never heard of the Storm selling out its pre-orders or having sold out at all. Also the Storm does not have a video and music service, nor does it have any real home and car accessories. The Storm's market is confusing its for business people who want an annoying way to text and email. If you want a Blackberry why not get a better Blackberry like the Bold? If you want a touch screen phone get an iPhone simple as that. Also with the iPhone 3G 8 gb dropping to $99 you can basically hear the Storm gasping for breath.
One more note, who would want to jailbreak a Storm only to get 2G service on AT&T? Plus they would be on an improper ...

You should research before you talk. The Storm has the VCast music with Rhapsody service.
I don't know what you mean about home or car accessories. They have home and car chargers and everything else you need to use it in either place.
Some people want a touchscreen phone that works with their corporate email server...especially when they use a BES. Thusly...no iphone...simple as that.
The 8gb iphone is dropped to $99 in hopes they can clear them off the shelf. The new iphone which only now has the same features is still $199.

Apparently I got cut off.
Who needs wifi? Oh yeah...you still want to browse on a smaller than 4" screen and you don't want to have to do it on At&t's spotty 3G network...that makes sense now.
You will need to ask your customers why they wanted to jailbreak a Storm. It wasn't my idea...but they are doing it.
Low res pictures? Well...considering the iphone has only now gotten a 3.2 megapixel camera which the Storm has had all along...
Not sure where the $60 a month for tethering comes from.
iphone users remind me of the Hybrid drivers on South Park where they had the Pious. They turn their noses up at everyone in a pious manner as if anyone w/o a iphone is beneath them. But unlike the characters on that show...they are not obs...

3.2 mp, wow that is good enough for...well not much maybe a desktop background. Regardless about the MMS, iPhones can work with the Blackberry Enterprise server so how about you do some research before spouting off crap? As far as home accessories, the iPhone works with home docks for music, under the counter kitchen radios, surround sound systems, and more. As for the car they have complete radio kits for the iPhone.
$60 a month is how much AT&T and Verizon charge for 5gb tethering plan.
Can you use the Storm internationally? If so what are the cost per minutes, per kb, per text?
...
Yeah...it works with the BES like the Pre works with itunes. Not it's native application...and w/o all the features.
The Storm has had stereo bluetooth since the beginning so it has been able to work with car stereos, radios, surround sound systems, etc. without making you purchase some overpriced accessory to use it together. Plus...it has a headphone jack like the iphone...so it plugs into all those things too...lol.
So you put down that Verizon's tethering is so bad at $60 per month...then come back and admit it is the same with At&t...although you can't yet tether with your iphone...lol.
Yes...most certainly can use the Storm internationallly. It has all the frequencies built in to support international use. The cost per minute,...

Can you give specific roaming rates for roaming in Britain with the Storm over the iPhone?
Here is the rates for AT&T and the iPhone:
$5.99/month lowers the per min rate to $0.99
$24.99 - 20 mb of iPhone data roaming
up to
$199.99 - 200 mb of iPhone data roaming
Free incoming texts
$0.50/outgoing texts
$0.02/kb per data
Your turn.

Here are the rates for Verizon and the Storm:
$4.99/month lowers the per min rate to $0.99
$64.99/month gives the user access to email and web on the Storm- unlimited
$129.99 gives 100mb of roaming data
$219.99 gives 200mb of roaming data
overage is $0.005 per kb
pay per use is $0.02 per kb
$0.05 per text received
$0.50 per text sent
Data available in 175 destinations worldwide
Voice available in 220 destinations worldwide
Oh...and for your precious wifi...you can get the Samsung Saga and have all these features and it has wifi.
for 19.99 per month you can add Global Navigation w/ turn by turn directions for the Storm or use Google Maps or Blackberry maps for free

*lurking*
for 19.99 per month you can add Global Navigation w/ turn by turn directions for the Storm or use Google Maps or Blackberry maps for free
these are still using internet ppu correct? does it lower the quality to use less kb like att worldwide gps routing?

So the roaming data plans are higher by $20, and you have a pitiful amount of destinations worldwide you can even go wonderful. Also incoming text is free while roaming with AT&T.

...
Actually...your data plans are quite a bit higher. When you compare the devices...the iphone only has those data plans available and cannot tether.
OK...so let's look at the 2 phones with no tethering.
Blackberry unlimited access for email and web internationally is 64.99.
You pay $199.99 for 200 mb with the iphone.
Which is cheaper again?
The Storm by 135 dollars a month. Which is 2700 international txts a month on Verizon. That is per month. Sounds like the Storm is the clear winner there.
The other rates listed were for tethering plans...which you cannot do on the iphone.
Oh yeah...and the destinations are virtually the same although the Storm can be used for voice in at least 5 more countries and the same for Data.

Ya know, watching you guys fight like little girls over who's barbie is cuter has been fun. But, realistically, I have to side with the iPhone. And the simple reason is because for the average user, an iPhone is more fun, simpler, and more intuitive. The screen is also infinitely more responsive. The storm's screen is really freakin' lame. It's ridiculous to press so hard on a screen. I imagine I'd get used to it, but just... bleh... I like better response. And I don't care for the BB OS. I like OS X being a mac user, and apple just seems to make sure things run well and smoothly. And the new hardware also doubles the capacity. Having a huge amount of space is nice. SD cards are annoying. Really annoying. But it comes down to the responsiven...

yeah, up to 7.2 Mbit/s on a gsm network sure, but not on a wcdma network 21 Mbit/s.
Like I said, GSM is old news and will probably be converting to WCDMA which is updated CDMA network... and iPhone is still GSM which is just as dinosaur as CDMA kinda like being Triassic to CDMA's Jurassic
...
It doesn't use GMS its HSDPA which is an update to the UTMS network.
...
ok, so it already runs on w-cdma.. sorry
...
No it doesn't it runs on UTMS/HSDPA. I can only imagine how fast it would be jailbroken on Verizon....shivers 😕

mrpmpfan your killing me, its UMTS not UTMS. please say it correctly.

Well, how many carriers have converted from CDMA to GSM, vs. GSM to CDMA? I know of none that went to CDMA, I do know of several which have dumped CDMA.
...
Actually since UMTS is WCDMA which is of course a development of CDMA, At&t has essentially gone to CDMA for their 3G Data transfers and only their voice or 2G Data still runs on GSM.
...
Let me guess you used your Iphone to post this? 🤨
...
BTW,
"We touched on it earlier, but Safari is noticeably faster. This is due to better rendering, but eventually we’ll also be able to chalk this up to the addition of HSDPA 7.2Mbps. Right now Chicago is the only market where ATT is trialing this, so most users won’t notice any difference and by the time ATT’s full rollout is complete (2011) there will no doubt be a few new iPhones out there."
So everyone not in chicago is basically running the iPhone on GSM, and definately not getting those transfer rates...
...
LOL!!!!! 🤣 GSM will never switch to CDMA, are you kidding me?? Most of the world uses GSM, Asia, Europe, Australia.. cmon now. Plus GSM lets you do data and voice at the same time. CDMA you cannot do both.
oh yeah...
The first GSM network was launched in 1991 by Radiolinja in Finland with joint technical infrastructure maintenance from Ericsson.[10] By the end of 1993, over a million subscribers were using GSM phone networks being operated by 70 carriers across 48 countries.[11]
TDMA/CDMA was deployed in 1988.
So... i think GSM is newer.
...
really who the hell cares... arguing about the iphone/blackberry/gsm/cdma which is better bullcrap is fail. sounds to me like a bunch of whinny babies who get upset when someone disagree with them.. if it works for you then hey good for you if it doesnt then dont use it plain and simple...
...
umm cdma and tdma are different standards. and CDMA's first commercial launch (market trial) was in 1993, and Sprint picked it up in 1994.
GSM started in 1991, but the concept begain in the early 80s, whereas the CDMA concept arose in 1988...
and just so you know, GSM uses the TDMA standard.....
