Rumor has it from a little bird inside Apple corporate that they are very upset with AT&T and will not be leaving them with exclusive rights to the iPhone as of 2010.
I would normally not be able to wait that long for new technology but I will be willing to do so in protest of how AT&T is treating current iPhone users.
...
Sounds like your little birdy is a little drunk. Sadly for Apple to redesign a CDMA iPhone would make little to no sense, since Verizon wouldn't let them have as much control over their own phone like we do.
...
I dont understand how I Phone users are treated badly. Or at least any worse than any other customer. Please elaborate.

the iphone 3g is being intentionally restricted in its abilities (ie video capture, voice command)just so they can charge you another $300 for one that can (ie the iphone3gs)... why not just allow it with teh 3.0 os update? cuz apple sux, jailbreak your junk
...
Can you please name me another phone on any other network that allows you to update a host of features? Just because you didn't get video recording and voice control doesn't mean we were trying to zap you for some dollars it just means if you want said features you should update and stop crying about a free update. Plus its Apples firmware update not AT&Ts.

every single phone on verizon presently can do ota, know what your talkin about before comeing at me

OTA means nothing, what I was asking it what phone through Verizon had a 2 major updates to their firmware that gave most of the new features that upgraded model was coming out with. Please be my guest and name one.

the storm, last week had an update
...
Wonderful, and it had a host of new features? Or was it minor tweaks to its broken OS?
...
GraGGJun 18, 2009, 9:45 PM
first off theres nothing new about the 3.0 os, just new to apple phones... hence my comment about how restrictive they are... second it was was alot of new features, including appworld ๐คฃ
you really have no clue what you are talking about do you? ๐คจ
...
Yes I sadly do know what I am talking about the update for Blackberries included picture messaging, html emails, video recording and thats about it. On top of that appworld was a seperate application not even included in the update that you had to download from Blackberries website. I own a Blackberry Curve, so just because I don't own the POS Storm doesn't mean I don't know Blackberries.
...
Actually...sadly you have no clue what you are talking about with Blackberries. The Storm upgrade included none of the features you listed. It already had picture messaging, html emails and video recording.
The actual updates included:
-Portrait mode keyboard
-Cursor and selection controls
-enhanced control of the browser
-improved touch-screen response
-Faster MicroSD card access for cards up to 16GB
-Quicker response time for the accelerometer
Once again you opened your mouth with no knowledge of what you were speaking about. Try again. The updates you listed are the pathetic upgrades finally added to the iphone...which still don't completely work because the carrier is unable to keep up with their flagship device....

Once again you opened your mouth without reading what you just typed. All those upgrades are to the overall stability of the device none are giants steps forward.

WTF are you talking about? How can you know what the Tour's update will contain and why would there be an immediate update to a phone that is just being released. Please don't become a lawyer because you would lose every case.

Why would a Verizon customer care? The domestic rates are high enough I can't imagine international rates. ๐คฃ

LMAO...Its wishful dreaming at best... Your right I was one of the first to rush and get the storm, what a mistake that was!! Talk about HORRIBLE hardware and even worse software...I couldnt run fast enough to return it. Then after 6 months they finally update the software so I try it again thinking maybe it will be better and again TERRIBLE!!!!Not to mention every storm's screen was different. Some...

Let me correct your sentence:
Coming soon to Verizon...Blackberry Tour and Storm 2. Sadly Verizon customers will never have a CDMA iPhone.
...
It's official Mrpimp you're a hater! You cringe at the thought of the Iphone being on CDMA because you know it would KILL a&t's spotty network.
...
Spotty in your area maybe but you fail to realize that every carrier cannot have 100% coverage. Believe it or not but the iPhone is only a very small portion of our customer base, Blackberries and Windows Mobile users are the highest portion of our smartphone customers. Verizon would never beat us due to them not offering the iPhone (and most likely never will) and they don't offer a comprehensive international offering due to their CDMA phones.
...
Ummm...Verizon is beating you...last I checked they are the largest wireless carrier in the US.
How is At&t's international offering any different or more comprehensive than Verizon's? It has to do with what frequencies the phone is capable of receiving...and Verizon's global devices offer 3G data and voice everywhere that At&t offers it. Try again.
...
AT&T offers discounted data plans for PDA/iPhones and discounted per min rates for all other phones. What does Verizon offer? The reason I know that Verizon international offerings stink overseas is because they use CDMA technology which most international countries do not use.
...
OK...but the CDMA is only for use in the US. The phones that are globally capable have radios built in that receive GSM signals and they have sim cards. It doesn't matter that they use CDMA in the US...the phones support all the other modes. That is why people have been able to use Verizon global devices on At&t here in the US. They unlock the GSM side of the phone and use it instead of CDMA.
Your entire argument is wrong. But it was a nice effort.
...
Env Touch, newly released phone for Verizon works only on CDMA 850 / CDMA 1900
HTC Touch Diamond only works on CDMA 850 / CDMA 1900
Samsung Omnia only works on CDMA 850 / CDMA 1900
Blackberry Storm does work on CDMA 850 / CDMA 1900
GSM 850 / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
WCDMA 2100
Because its one of the only Verizon phones with a Sim card slot.
So what I am pointing out is that with a little research from this website I have proven your wrong. Not all Verizon phones use Sim cards or work on GSM networks. Only the Storm and World/Global phones work off the GSM network.
Have a great day.
...
But your argument was that Verizon did not offer a comprehensive global lineup. That is incorrect. We have data cards, phones, and smart phones that operate in 200 countries worldwide. Of course every phone is not going to work globally...but to say there is no comprehensive lineup is ridiculous. No where in your statement did you prove me wrong.
...
Our service is available in 215 countries, and my previous post did prove you wrong because the only phones that will work in any international countries are the Storm, any World Blackberry device, or the World Moto Q. Outside of that please explain any other device that has a SIM card slot (aka works on GSM/UTMS/HSDPA network)
...
Well...Verizon has 3 different smartphones, 2 of which are Blackberries, 1 is WinMo. A usb data card (USB 1000) and the Samsung Renown which is a dumbphone. Covers all the bases. Comprehensively at that. Those are just the current models offered. There have been several devices in the past that offered the same functionality.
Your voice service is in 215 countries...how many support data? About 170. Verizon has voice in 220 and data in 175. Pretty much the same there. Plus...At&t phones won't work in places overseas where CDMA is the only offering. Goes both ways.
...
rodtJun 23, 2009, 7:04 PM
I'm sorry who does not have a IPhone in the lineup? Oh yeah Verizon. Is it true they went to Verizon first and couldn't come out with a deal. I hope that guy got fired.

Exactly how is AT&T treating iPhone customers badly? Cuz you sound like an Apple fanboy speaking out of his a55. And if you're a Verizon fanboy you guys make me laugh. I never rip on you guys because we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but I remember when the last 2 iPhones came out & all of you fanboys ripped on AT&T and said stupid comments like "I'm so glad Verizon passed on that POS iPhone blah blah blah", but now all I hear is "Just wait AT&T until your exclusive deal runs out and we carry the iPhone!!! You're gonna go out of business cuz the iPhone is all you have!!!". Give me a break...

I am neither a Verizon fanboy nor an Apple fanboy. The fact that you immediately assume that anyone that disagrees with you somehow is not worth listening to shows just what an idiot you are.
The iPhone 3.0 system has been crippled to promote the sales of the 3G S and then AT&T has had to have it's arm twisted to offer any type of upgrade or trade-in options to a limited number of iPhone users. They are also dragging their feet on providing adequate support for new features.
AT&T has also been having service issues...

I'm the idiot??? Really??? Come on playboy, listen to yourself... A CDMA iPhone??? First of all jacka55 Verizon will be rolling out the LTE network within the next 12 months, AT&T's exclusive deal is at least another 12 months, so why in the hell would a CDMA iPhone be made for a network that will be grandfathered by that time??? The FCC is going to illegalize exclusive deals later this year huh??? You fooking tool they haven't even began to review the matter yet!!! AT&T has to have their arms twisted to offer existing iPhone owners a deal on the new phone??? So you're saying because someone owns a Blackberry they automatically deserve the right to upgrade to a new Blackberry everytime a new one comes out??? God you're such an idiot...
(continues)
...
Yeah, you are an idiot. AT&T is not capable of providing the services needed to use 3.0 or the 3G S for that matter. They are not even offering MMS yet and "late this summer" is not a good enough response when they have had a long time to be prepared. They fought to intentionally cripple the 3.0 software on the 3G to increase contract lengths for the specific purpose of trapping customers beyond the one year extension of their exclusive contract with Apple. You also have no idea how the FCC works.
...
Although Verizon will be rolling out LTE within 12 months...the CDMA network will not be grandfathered. Voice will still be available on CDMA and EVDO data will be available as well for the next decade or so. They won't immediately drop the CDMA network. Long term...perhaps...but most devices using the LTE network will be dual band CDMA and LTE. At worst if Apple does what they did to At&t customers...they could release a CDMA version using EVDO data and then the next year they can release an upgrade that uses LTE...then the next year they will add more features...and so on and so on and so on...
...
