Questions, Sim Lock? GPS type? 3.5mm Jack, Data Port
Questions about this phone.
It has a Sim Card for Global Use.
Is it locked so I can not have a local pay per minute card when traveling overseas? or Can I use my Verizon card for my US number (with high roaming rates) and have the ability to use a foreign sim card for a local number and low local rates?

Can this operate in stand alone mode (no service area) and access local maps, or Google Map where data is avialable, or is it tied to network location services and paying for carrier based nav services?
Is the headphone Jack the same size as most MP3 players and the iphone 3.5mm or is it the older 2.5mm size or worse some proprietary connector?

I have a Motorola Z6C World Phone. The phone was locked. All I had to do was call Verizon's global division at 800-711-8300. They immediately gave me my unlock code without any problem.
With regard to you question about domestic GSM frequencies, sorry, can't answer that. My phone only has the two oversees GSM frequencies. I have used my phone successfully in 3 countries with local prepaid SIMs. Good luck

As for a 3.5mm jack - No dice. It's proprietary - or "multi-function" as the HTC site states.

Once you get the phone, you can get the phone unlocked for international roaming no problem. National roaming.. you might need to do some fancy footwork to get it working with US GSM services (if at all). If you buy the phone at retail cost and talk with Verizon support, they might be able to unlock it, but there are no guarantees. I highly doubt you'll be able to use it with US pre-pay services no matter what though, because it is WIMO.

It has a proprietary audio jack integrated into the mini-USB connector. (That answers two of your questions.)
If you get an unlock code from Verizon for the GSM side, then you could use prepaid SIMs while overseas. Domestically... HTC insists it supports GSM 850 and 1900, which would be intended to support South American roaming. However, unlike all other Verizon phones with quad-band GSM, this one has not been approved by the FCC for GSM mode. I'm not sure why that's the case, but technically it means it would be illegal to use it domestically in GSM mode.
