WiFi?? SETTING AP????
ummmmm really just trying to figure this out....what does seeting your AP do for you and what is it in general???? also mupi if you read this my phone shows two free public wifi networks available via the wifianalyzer you had me download wich is BOMB by the way...I LOVE IT.. anyways like say it says i have 2 free public wifi available but it says out of range so how close do you think i would have to be to the connection in order for my phone to be able to use that connection cuz it tells me there is 2 available but not in range...so im guessing it can pick up a signal further than it is capeable of connecting to correct?

Setting an AP "locks" you into using a specific AP for a network. This CAN be useful in environments where there are multiple APs for a given network (common in workplaces, for example). Sometimes, network administrators will lock APs to certain MAC addresses, and if this is the case, you will be unable to connect to the network, unless you connect to "your" AP. Sometimes, even though they carry the same SSID, they may be attached to a different VLAN, which may wind up in different firewall security, etc. Also, sometimes Bad People will discover the SSID of a companies network, and attempt to intercept network traffic by spoofing the SSID. All of these things can be mitigated by use of the AP setting.
