Creating a Hotspot
My Supervisor told me that there was a program out there that allowed you to create a Hotspot on your cell phone. He is not on Verizon, but is there a program that can be downloaded that will let you do this on the Motorola Droid.

What do you mean by rooted? I looked in AllDroid.org and didn't find anything helpful.

Do you know what a "jailbroken" iPhone is? Pretty much the same thing. Definately a great thing to do but does void the warrenty. It's very easy to switch back though.

Awesome! There should be an app on your phone called Wireless Tethering. Open it up and go to settings to enable it through either Wifi or Bluetooth. Out of curiosity, are you just trying to get your laptop connected or multiple laptops simultaneously?

Not sure that I want to try this any further, but I don't see a program called Wireless Tethering. Don't know how or where I would get it.

Yeah. I found a way. It is a program called Easy Tether. You do have to connect the phone via USB, but you have internet access through the phone.

Download Wireless Tethering. Very easy to use and allows you to connect your computer through Bluetooth or Wifi.

Put the wireless_tether_2_0-pre6.apk file on your SD card and install it using the Installer program on your phone.
After it's installed on your phone, connecting is as easy as
1. Opening Wireless Tethering
2. Clicking Start Tethering
3. Opening your wireless manager on your computer and connecting to Android Tether
4. passkey is abcdefghijklm (you can change that to a password of your liking)
It's sounds like you are having issues with your phone based on your previous post. Let me know if this is the case.

Downloaded the program and my laptop connects with my cell, but when looking t the propeties on the laptop, it says that I am connected but do not have internet access.

Can you email me a screenshot of the error on your computer? Also, on your Droid, I need you to go into settings, about phone and tell me the Kernal version and build number so I can troubleshoot.

if you want to you can just root your phone via the http://droidmod.org website download the program to your phone and install it.... what it does is give you a rooted os (which by the way is 2.1) that will also have the ability to get the wifi tether on it. this again as above will void your warranty but you can as above un-root it.... do this man it is sick as all hell to have. im rocking it and man a life saver when i cant get a hotspot.
