LEATHER CASE WITH MAGNET
I hear that this type of case causes the battery to drain faster. Comments?

It isn't exactly true, but yes, it does have that effect.
What happens is that the Droid "sees" the magnet, and thinks it is in the car dock or the multimedia dock, depending on where the magnet lines up.
When the droid is in the car dock, it unlocks the screen, and keeps the display on for longer. Since the display is unlocked, the buttons can be pushed (like volume... I can't tell you how many times I accidentally turned my phone to silent mode when I was using a holder with a magnet...)
I believe because it is unlocked, it doesn't enter true standby, either, but I don't know.
If it thinks it is in the multimedia dock, then it is similar, but I think it might keep the display on in the MM dock. I don't have that, so hard to c...

I use the Verizon case made for the Droid, which has velcro, and works well. After a little time using the case I noticed that the loops have begun to be "stretched out" and don't form the hook they used to. I also purchased the below case (the Laterale) and it is an excellent made phone case! A little pricer, but nice leather, comes in a choice of color, and it's wearing quite well. I wasn't sure about the snap closure but once the case stretches a little to fit the Droid better, it works quite easily.
