Just got this new Storm and like the increased speed, and enhancements. However, the reception has now become inferior to the Storm 1. Doesn't have as many bars of reception calling from the same location. I know, I've been testing it. I wonder if they had to reduce the antenna size because of WiFi? If so, how stupid. Reception is one of the most important aspects of a phone. To sacrifice because of Wifi that most people will never use is ridiculous. Others are complaining in rural areas same problem. Also, what level do you set the tap interval, hover period, and swipe sensistivity? Thanks.........

I hope they didn't reduce antenna size. I haven't had enough time to really notice yet. I know that OS versions have a big impact on reception. Lets hope it's as simple as that. There were big differences on the original Storm sometimes from one OS version to the other.
Tap interval, hover and swipe I have left default. I am starting to play around with those to see if I can get it a little better

I don't see how in the world the OS can ever affect the reception? OS is software -- antenna, reception, etc. is hardware. I have done side by side comparisons with Storm 1 & 2 and 2 definitely has worse reception. This to me is a huge flaw. How could RIM ever compromise reception???? This is one of the most important components of a cell PHONE!!! First and foremost, it needs to operate as a PHONE!!!

Anyone have any more takes on the reception of the Storm 2, almost upgrade to a Storm 2 and a Tour for my wife today, from an EnV Touch and a Dare. If the reception is worse than my EnV, which is not as good as my Voyager was, that would definitely be a deal buster. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I was up why this is, but there is a dramatic difference from one OS to another sometimes with radio reception. If one leaked OS had poor reception, there were those at crackberry that would be able to seperate and pull the radio files out of one OS and insert them into another and...

Ah yes, The Storm and I had an ok relationship I guess. But you might say it was a "Stormy" one at times.
When I found her she was a little slow and unrefined. I tried to help by putting the latest operating systems on. She got better for a while, but slowly over the weeks ahead she went back to her old ways 😢
We had some setbacks err..resets, she froze up at times. When I decided to get the Storm2, she got her act together and really tried. She never really let me down or stranded me for the last year and her bright chrome accents are much better to look at than the "Goth" look I traded for.
I don't know what I am thinking...I feel happy sometimes and like dirt others 🤣
We still do see each other...we remain good frien...

Is it worth the switch? To be honest w/ you I never really experienced most of the problems everyone has explained they had on the forum w/ Storm 1. I have been afraid @ times in the past to download the newest software b/c I never really had any problems. A majority of the friends I have who use the Storm have played around w/ my phone and said its more responsive than their's. The only problem I have w/ my phone now after downloading the last OS almost 2 months ago is that it is harder to to hang up on someone. I am a addicted to new technology but in these times I could stand to save a buck or two here and there. Let me know. Thanks.

the update makes the s1 a far more superior product then the 4.7 shoftware that was on it before. just when you update to this make sure you back up your bbm, and other then that pretty seemless. but well worth the update.
