BlackBerry Bold 9700
memory
I honestly think that BB would do so much better if they built in the memory like the i-phone does! Then they could compete even more!!!!
Well theres my two cents(sense)! 😛
Also, some carriers may elect to include a memory card, so it still may come with 1GB or more of memory right out of the box.
...which is part of why they do it that way. It gives carriers the flexibility to offer it with a lot of memory, or offer the phone cheaper. Carriers like having that kind of flexibility, and the opportunity to differentiate against other carriers.
Looks like if you go directly to the RIM website it does show the phone has a full 256 MB onboard.
It's quite normal for all phones to have that kind of difference between raw hardware memory and the amount actually available to the user.

We have a Bold 9700, and trust us, 128 MB is what's actually available to the user.
That is admirable but I think in your review you should write 256mb (128mb available user memory). This would be more accurate, stating just 128mb gives the impression there is only a total of 128mb that can be used for both system files and the user. Probably should do that in all reviews. If this is stated somewhere else then I must have missed it, I tend to go right to the specs. Thanks for all the time you put in giving us all these reviews.
