Audiovox CDM-8600
PRL 50110 Bug - May want to wait before buying
As of PRL 50110, the front LCD flashes the word "Verizon" and the clock dissapears. "Verizon" will show for a few seconds, then pop off, then pop back on again. This is annoying if you rely on your front LCD to show you the time/date because you may have to sit and wait for the word "Verizon" to go away.
Hopefully this is something that will be correctable via software update.
I still think it's a great phone.

Just to let you know and all verizion phone now have the verizon flash across your phone , it is to let you know you ar enot going to be nilled for roaming it has nothing to do with this phone or or the prl update
All ERI-capable phones show the proper roaming indicator when roaming and will show Verizon Wireless on the main screen, but I have seen no other phone that flashes "Verizon" on the outside LCD (which is the issue of this thread). VX-4400 doesn't, CDM-9500 doesn't, Kyoceras don't... not sure where you're getting that one. The 8600 software passes the ERI info to the front LCD.
1: menu
2: settings
3: system
4: nam settings
5: set ::auto NAM:: to yes
you have to set auto name to no and then back to yes next time u turn ur phone off... but i since i leave it on most of the time it works

1. Press the upper left soft key (ie the one with the "..." on it).
2. Press 6, 2, 2, 1
3. Press OK key, to edit Banner
4. Type in a banner (puts it on the inside LCD screen), up to 32 characters.
5. Press the OK key to save.
I did this 20 min ago and the time is there always. I even turned it off and back on and just the time appears, no VZW banner.
Now if someone could figure out how to get rid of the annoying turn on/off sound we'd have it made in the shade!

No one on HowardForums with PRL 50113 has been able to duplicate with success of this procedure.
I just got this phone and also tried the idea MnMnIA suggested to change the banner flashing; with no results. âšī¸
First imressions- neat little phone; better that my ol' LG-510.
Nice to have a cool little phone with analog for the hill-ey SF bay area!
