Voice dialing using BT headset
I just read a review on pcmag.com that said the Eris does not support voice dialing over a BT headset. It's hard to believe this is correct. Can someone confirm one way or the other? The lack of this capability would be a real deal breaker for me so I hope they're wrong.

Victek,
That is correct! I spent 1 1/2 hours in the store yesterday with 3 different reps while they were trying to confirm what I was telling them. That and along with the weak battery life was a deal breaker for me. I would turn my phone on at 0700 and by 1530 it was in the yellow, and this was with very minimal usage too. I wanted so badly to keep the phone because I loved the form factor, but I went back to my BB and got the Storm2.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the confirmation. The lack of support for diaing over the headset is a real disappointment. No Eris for me. I'll have to start looking at the Moto Droid again.

Victek,
Keep in mind that the Droid has the same voice dial system too. The reps went over and tried it on that phone too. If it had worked on the Droid, I might have switched over to the Droid.

Yeah, I was just reading messages in the Droid forum about the Droid having the same issue. I posted a separate thread about it to see if we can get some more information.

It is an issue with the Android OS. Cannot believe that they completely left out this feature on 2.0. AFAIK any Droid phone will have the same issue.

Thanks for confirming the problem. It boggles the mind. There will be no droid OS phone in my future until this capability is added.

I feel the same way - and disappointed because the Droids have a lot of great features. The issue isn't that voice dialing cannot be activated - it is that it cannot be activated from the BT headset, which is its main advantage, e.g., when driving. This is such an odd omission that one has to wonder if there is another reason Android doesn't include it.
