HTC Droid Eris
Confused About Maps
OK, I know the Eris doesn't have the same turn-by-turn mapping that the Moto Droid has, so what kind of map program does it have? "Just" Google maps (non turn-by-turn version)?
Also, can you run VZ Navigator on the Eris? For me, VZ Navigator works fine and I don't need much more, but I've heard it won't work on the Eris.

Google Maps Navigation Now Works On Android 1.6

Today Google announced that the Google Maps Navigation -- the software if first provided only to devices running Android 2.0 -- is available to devices running Android 1.6. Google Maps Navigation offers free turn-by-turn, voice-guided directions between two points. Google Maps Navigation for Android 1.6 also offers support for more layers. The new application is available for free in the Android Market to customers in the U.S.

HTC Eris to Receive Android 2.0 Update in Early 2010

Today Verizon Wireless spokesperson Brenda Raney said in an email to Phone Scoop that the HTC Droid Eris will be updated to at least Android 2.0 -- with Google Maps Navigation and Sense UI -- during the first quarter of 2010. Depending on the timing, the Eris may even be updated to Android 2.1. The Droid Eris currently runs Android 1.5.

I read somewhere (don't remember where, it's been a couple weeks) of various update schedules for the Eris. One of them got the first update date right, and claimed another date was in January. It also claimed one of those updates would be 2.x. We can always hope that it comes that soon.

The only things i have heard or saw on here about the update for 2.0 or 2.1 was that it would be ethier first quarter of 2010 like stated above...and if the update was to be sent out in january then it would be late january wich we are in right now so like Nimdae stated we can only hope for the best "2.1 hopefully" or atleast hope that it comes that soon be it 2.1 or 2.0...would be nice to have ethier 1 right 😁 ???
