Syncing with Outlook
I really want to get this phone. I currently have a Motorola with Windows Mobile. The OS is garbage but the main draw for me then and still a priority is to sync my calendar, contacts on my PC with Outlook. My wife and I both sync our phones to one common Outlook calendar, etc. The one thing holding me back is HTC's Sync capability. I will not be syncing to a corporate network, just a local Outlook. Only one of us has data access, so wireless sync is not an option. I understand that there is probably Google syncing on the Internet, but I do not want some very secure items in my contact info on the web. I was reading somewhere that Google has some kind of Exchange compatible server I could run to sync with. I am not sure about that or...

I'll respond to my own thread. I recently purchased 2 Eris's in the buy 1 get 1 free.
Regarding Outlook Sync directly from the HTC Eris. I have sensitive Contact info and do not want to Sync via Google cloud, then to Outlook. Luckily, HTC provides a downloadable Sync client directly with Outlook via USB. Not one Verizon rep I talked to (I've talked to at least 6), knew this. You simply download the HTC client software and configure a flag under 'Settings' -> 'Application Settings' -> 'Development'. Turn USB Debugging on. Works like a charm.
It works even better than the ActiveSync from MS I used to use with my old Windows Mobile.
I love this phone. The only thing that I'd say I'm missing is a real keypad. For some reason...

Where did you download the HTC client software from? I looked for it on the HTC website and couldn't find it.
