Navigation
I am looking to upgrade to the Droid Eris from my Env Touch. I am currently using VZ Navigator. How is the navigation using Google? How does it compare?

There is no VZ navigator for the Eris. It has Google Maps, however there are navigation apps on the Android Market but I haven't tried them so I don't know if they're any good. Google maps is perfectly fine but there are no "turn by turn" talking directions. If you have a co-pilot in the car, you're fine. Once the Eris is upgraded to Android 2.0, this will be a non-issue. By the way, the talking navigation (Moto Droid) is fantastic. My son has the EnvTouch and the ERIS is far and away better than that in all respects.

I am doing a lot of driving to place I don't know as part of my job. I may have to go with the Moto Droid because it has turn-by-turn directions. It has some other really nice options too.

The Moto Droid is bigger, heavier (very nice quality) and more expensive. The physical keypad is the only detriment. The Eris has the Sense UI which the Moto does not, and it is amazing. I don't think either of these trumps the other, I just think they have different pros and cons. Both are excellent.

Not only that, but the Eris will be upgrading to at least the 2.0 operating system or maybe the 2.1 which would include the same google navigation that the moto droid currently has, so worst case scenario you will only have to wait until March 31 to have use of this function and until then you will still be able to use the google maps without navigation which is just as accurate and helpful, the only problem is that, as stated in the first post it gives you mapquest like directions.
