I am wondering if it is possible to individualize text message tones on the droid eris. I have not been able to figure out how if it is possible. Anyone able to help me out?
...
Not with the default messaging app. You may want to try downloading a different one from the Android Market to see if any others will allow you to. I never set individual ringers or alert sounds on my phones, so it's not a feature that I pay much attention to. As such, the default messaging app works fine for me.

also kevinski i love the way the default one has the auto spell deal or spell correction whatever it is...is the chompSMS about the same or does it not have it???? and once i do download it if i dont like it am i able to go back to the default one without having to reset my whole phone?

The auto-correct feature has nothing to do with which messaging app you have installed. Rather, all that matters is which keyboard you're using. If you haven't changed keyboards, then you needn't worry about auto-correct going away.
Downloading other apps of any given type doesn't replace the original apps. That why you'll still notice notifications for the originals coming through if you don't deactivate the notifications. So, yes, you can always go back to the original applications.

ok so i downloaded the chompSMS....SAWEEEEEEEEETTT!!!!!!!!!! 😁 😁 very customizable like u said.... did notice i got 2 notifications everytime i got a text but u answerd that question before i could ask lol....so wich one would u perferr the handcent or comp? does the hancent one have the same bubble type thing???? o hey im trying to get the music from my mp3 player to my droid...can i just take the sd card out of my droid and put the mp3 players sd card in my droid and load it to my internal memory? then take the mp3 sd card out and put droids back in and then load all the music that is on my internal onto the droids 8g external??? i understand its alot of steps but i dont have my usb cord here with me at work and need music.... so is it...

I prefer chompSMS to Handcent, personally, because the bubbles in chompSMS look better, and the application still offers a lot of customization options.
And yeah, I suppose that you could transfer music to the internal memory temporarily, but you'd probably need something along the lines of OI File Manager or something.

ok so i tried doing this yesterday...for some reason i cant figure out how to view what is on my sd card it will tell me the available space and things of that nature but how do you view what exactly is on the sd card?? confusing 😕
...
Download OI File Manager. Once you're in OI File Manager, the house represents what's on your phone, while the SD card represents what's on your SD card.

ooops!!! 😲 dam im retarted 🤣 i downloaded ASTRO... have u tried this one??? how does it compare to ol' file manager?
...
No idea. I've only ever used OI File Manager. By the way, it stands for OpenIntents. It's not short for OLD. 😛

Have u downloaded ringdroid from the market? this is a great app that allows u to not only individualize tones but u can actually edit the tones to different parts of the song that u like the most. Hope this helps.

i tried ringdroid and when i set it as a notification sound it sounded like a DJ was having way to much fun on the turntable while the song is playing 🤣 UNINSTALL!!!!!!!
