You can either pay the monthly tethering fee to vzw which is $30, or you can download an app called pda.net (or something like that). And what you would have to do is follow the directions in the app which will prompt you to download a file and copy it to the computer. After that installs all you would need to do is have the computer connected to the phone via usb and have the program running. However beware. If you are using the free app you will not be able to go over 5 gb for the month or else you will get overage charges. Also I believe that the free app is actually a free trial, you will be able to use it after the trial is over but you won't be able to access secure websites. With the monthly tethering fee you will have 5gb of us...

Tethering isn't officially supported yet. There may be solutions out there like the one that CCK807 mentioned, however.

well dam that is ****y i figured there would be some way to do this but free because your not doing anything different then using the same connection that your already paying for anyways its just another way for them to charge you wich is rather frustrating if you ask me.. 👿
i guess in this case in a world that does... droid doesent!! 😲
dont get me wrong...i love my eris....

It's definitely not the same thing. You can move a LOT more data on a PC than you can on a phone. That's why there's a far more restrictive allowance.

that is true.....however i wouldnt use it for anything different then what i use my phone for really just searching the web,email,etc....but yea that is prolly y so people dont just download a million things and go over the so called "UNLIMITED" data package. man that kinda sux i was really hopeing to be able to do this ☹️

In the Market, download PdaNet. Then on your computer, hit up June Fabrics at http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php and install the program. It's like a 20-day trial after which you can't access https:// sites while tethered. Drop the $20-something dollars for the program. VERY worthwhile and you get free lifetime updates. This comes in super handy when in a classroom where I get a super weak wireless signal. It's also incredibly easy to use.
