GPRS Questions

I have a Laptop and a T-Mobile Motorola V600. I know I can use the V600 as a modem to call my Internet Service Provider (ISP) and only use up my air time but the speed is rather slow (about 10 kbps).

I've been told that to access T-Mobile GPRS network I have to dial *99#. Do I just use air time to use GPRS or do I have to sign up for some data plan? How fast is GPRS? Also, what carrier has the access code of *99***3#.

Thank you very much for any response.

😎 It is best that you sign up for a data plan. The data plan from T-Mobile costs $19.99 a month for unlimited data, added to your regular price plan. It is as fast as a regular 56K modem. Do not just use your phone to dial, it will cost you alot of money, because you won't be using minutes you would be using megabit's, which will have your bill extremely high. It is best that you get the 19.99 unlimited internet data add-on plan so you can access the internet anytime you want, either with bluetooth(if your computer has bluetooth), or a data cable. I had the 19.99 plan before. Here is a link about there internet service http://www.t-mobile.com/company/about/technol ogy.asp

Here is a link with info on the plan itself:

I tried the link but the server is down.

Does the $19.99 plan include HotSpot usage? If I do not sign up for the plan how much does T-Mobile charge per MByte?

Thanks a lot for your response.

🤣 No, that does not include hotspot usage. Ask T-mobile about the Hotspot plans that they have. I don't know, but its best to get the 19.99 T-mobile add-on plan because by the time you starts surfing the megabites add up, especially when surfing the net, thats why I recommend the 19.99 add-on plan. 19.99 is nothin compared to being charged for each megabit. That why they say get more, because other wireless companies charge be megabits. When I had it I had cancel the service because I didn't have the plan and it made my bill jump up like 75.00 just for data alone, not voice and data. Go with the 19.99 plan and let me know how it goes. That plan also comes with Unlimted T-Zones on your phone free.

The only issue when you have the plan and all is battery life. I connect to the internet with my V300. It works fine, but when I want to play games online with/against other people, my battery dies mid-game so I have to play in moderation.
