Motorola V600
MP3 Ringtones and Bluetooth Question
I'm waiting for T-Mobile to carry just ONE good new phone and while I want the MPx220 or 300, seeing how long it's taking them to just get this phone, I figure the MPx's will never see day light here.
So, I have this question: Can I put my OWN MP3's on the device for a ringtone? I know you can download from their website MP3's, but I want my own edited ones. Since there's no card, I guess I could transfer via Bluetooth or USB cable, right?
Has anyone tried making two simultaneious connections to the phone via Bluetooth? Meaning your headset is on AND you try to send data from your PDA to the phone at the same time.

First of all - you can use any old MP3 (not sure what the bit rate limit is - 64k works for sure), but you won't want to use up all your memory with the whole song... just get a mp3 splitter (lots of choices searching on google) to break off a chunk, or if you have any editing software, highlight the section of the song you want and copy paste to a new file.

As to dual bluetooth connections, I think that is defined by the bluetooth spec. I did have a bluetooth connection up on my PC and had both phones transferring stuff to each other at the same time. I don't think that is as rigorous of a test as talking on a headse...

Yes, I plan on using a low bit rate and using CoolEdit to get just what I need, not an entire song. 🙂 I just wanted to make sure that was doable and I could transfer from my PC (or PDA) to the phone with no problem. Have you tried to transfer from PDA to the phone?
As to my dual connections, I was thinking more along the lines of having the head set connected (but not active with a call) and sending a phone number from my Palm to the phone to dial. Then of course the head set would then take the call. My Nokia 3650 won't let me do that. It's either one of the other. I ...

I own the Motorola HS810 bluetooth headset and and the Tungsten T3. I am able to dial my Motorola v600 through my Tungsten T3 successfully, but when I place my HS810 headset on and try dialing again through my T3, the connection fails. I have tried everything. I am able to pair the HS810 with no problems to my T3 and still nothing. I have deleted the HS810 on my T3. I guess Tungsten T3 cannot connect the bluetooth headset and the v600. If you figure it out let me know.

Ya, that's the same issue I have with my Nokia. The T-Mobile store rep told me that the Bluetooth Spec. doesn't allow for two simultaneous connections, which I have an issue with since there Bluetooth keyboards and mice working just fine on OS X and WindowsXP at the same time. Maybe the BT Spec. for phones or headsets doesn't allow it. I'll have to further investigate that. But your answer pretty much confirms my suspicion that the V600 won't allow me to do exactly what you're trying. Though I'll try. 🙂

Interesting... I wonder if it's a PDA OS limitation? I wonder if a PocketPC can do this?
Unfortunately, I don't have the headset, so I can't test that out. I will get one, and dialing from my PDA is not a condition for getting one, but it would be cool if I could do it.

svenllr ~ cool edit is a million times better than any of the MP3 splitters that I've tried, in that you can split with precision more easily - you can really pick your edit points quickly.
To your PDA question, ironically I transferred a gif file to my PDA that I intended to use as wallpaper on my iPaq 5455. The wallpaper didn't work out so well.
When I got my V600 - I thought - why not kill two birds with one stone? Let's test the bluetooth, and try the gif as wallpaper on my phone. The bluetooth transfer between my iPaq and the V600 worked perfectly, and so did the wallpaper.
If you get a chance to try it, let us know how dialing from the PDA works out. That could be really cool.
