I'm noticing the 4GB memory and wondering if that is so it can be sold super cheap to try and beat other phones with the price point.

Considering the target demographic they are going after, I wouldn't be surprised if they were. They don't really seem to be the kind of phone to compete with a $200 on contract android phone, and considering that it will most likely be parents throwing down the cash for these things I could see the possible price range being 50-75 for the one and 150 for the two.
