How does the phone sound?

I have noticed that several of the phones I've tried recently in the stores, not necessarily the vx-6000 have sounded like the person on the other end was in a tin can. Anyone know about this with the vx-6000?

...
not only is the earpiece extremely clear.....but the external speaker is of extraordinary quality and capable of very loud ringing, if so desired.
