Okay...

...so we've established that Clear's 4G network needs work, and that this thing is absolutely humongous.

If I can't fit it in my pocket comfortably, I don't want it.

HTC Unlocked GSM version

Can anyone offer any REAL information on if this device will be gutted and used for an unlocked GSM phone with sim slot from HTC direct? I know the chipset offers GSM abilities but that does not translate into an actual use on GSM networks, if that makes sense.

sigh @ the battery

if HTC had been smart they would have put in a 2 to 3k mah battery these phones either need better energy usage or bigger batteries its getting annoying that a smart phones life is barely 8-10 hours a day

Evo 4G + Froyo !!!

First time ever since I left Sprint 8 years ago, Sprint finally has a decent product.
If I were Sprint CEO, I won't loose this chance, they should update Froyo on Evo 4G ASAP and promote 4G with WiFi Tethering!
Obviously, they need to install 4G towers major cities faster than Verizon and other competitors!
I will recommend to anyone I know~

Whats the deal with the Add On Complaints?

I see some people bitching bout the add on fees. I notice we have not heard from the Rotten Apple FanBoys. Look at AT&t, to have an iPhone you have to have a current plan from $59.99 up, then there is the $30.00 REQUIRED iPhone plan, and that still does not include messaging. To get the unlimited messaging it is $20.00 a month. Plus for all you VZW Fanboys, read the news, VZW will not allow unlimited LTE, it will be a tiered price program, starting at $60.00 a month

Couldn't sleep last night...

... and was thinking about everyone freaking out about the $10 charge for the EVO.

Could it be that when Dan said Sprint wouldn't charge extra for 4G that he was actually talking about the $59.99 connection plan, and NOT talking about a device like the EVO?

Just a thought.

It's Micro, not Mini HDMI

Just wanted to pipe in and say that the review mistakenly calls the Micro HDMI jack (aka HDMI type d) Mini HDMI (HDMI type c). Just wanted to make sure people know that there is a difference and don't order a mini only to find out it doesn't work. Again to clarify, the phone supports Micro HDMI, not Mini HDMI.

Is the screen glass or plastic? Will it require a screen protector?

is the EVO 4g obsolete even before its release.

http://www.ozcarguide.com/technology/cellphone-pda/2 ... » - is that where we are. before you can even get excited about a new product yet to be released, you get the early reports of its successor. 🙂

Loving my EVO!

So after about a week of using the EVO 4G, I have to say that I am loving it. You've probably read the specs by now; but until you hold it you can't truly appreciate this phone. I find something new everyday. This is hands down one of the best phones (Android or other) that I have carried. I highly suggest that if you are interested in this phone that you pre-order now. 😁

I want an EVO but I don't live in a 4G area. Why do I have to pay the $10?

* The $10 Premium Data Fee is not a charge for 4G service.

* It is for a data rich experience with uncapped data usage.

I think I might end up paying too much.

* We're talking savings here.

* Sprint's Everything Data plan with Any Mobile Anytime for $69.99
plus $10 Premium Data fee still beats Verizon's and ATT's unlimited talk,
text and data plans by $40!

* And they don't have a 4G network! 🤣

It looks like a typical Android. Why pay $10 bucks more a month?

* 👿 Think Killer Multimedia! 😈

* EVO's 1GHz Snapdragon processor improves device speed and
performance making applications launch faster.

* The user experience is unlike any other phone available. Hear that
iPhone?

My email to sprint execs, feel free to copy and paste

To all whom it may concern:

I have been a loyal sprint customer for well over 8 years. I have paid my monthly bill on time, every month, that entire time. I have enjoyed both Sprint’s service as well as its phones. However, that will all come to an end if you do not revoke this $10/month fee tacked on to my existing Sprint unlimited data bill just to use the HTC EVO 4G.

I have withheld my adoption of the smart phone craze up to this point due to the lack of what I would consider a “worthwhile” phone on Sprint’s network because I wanted to maintain my loyalty to Sprint and did not want to settle for a lesser phone such as the Palm Pre and others that are currently available.

With the announcement of the EV...

HTC EVO ROCKS!

I just got my first look at Sprint's new EVO that is coming out 6/4. The device will most certainly be a game changer in the wireless industry. The size of the screen is incredible (pardon the pun!) and the display is resolution is the best I've ever seen. The WIFI hotspot capability on Sprint's 4G network is awesome indeed! I absolutely love the front (1.3 MP) AND rear (8 MP) facing cameras. This is by far the best handset I've ever used! Everyone is going to want it!

Hello EVO!

Let me just say first that I have been a Blackberry user for five years and I didn't think an Android device was going to win me over. The HTC EVO from Sprint will defiantly turn heads and change mindsets! I am an Advocate for this wonderful new Sprint device that will be released on June 4th, and I can say without a doubt "Sorry RIM, but you just lost me!"

I have had a week to use this device and it truly is everything and more than what I thought it would be. The Snapdragon processor makes the 3G data faster than I thought possible. I can't wait until my market launches 4G to see what this device can really do, yet I don't feel like not having 4G has limited any use of this wonderful device.

The Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync now ...

Bottom line, will this phone tether without getting the 29.95 upgrade

Right now I have a palm pre that i use for work purposes to get on the internet. Is there a feeling that this phone will be capable of doing that without getting the 29.95 upgrade program? I know the phone isn't out yet, but this phone seems like one worthy upgrade... WIll it tether with a cord or without one. Otherwise, I have to stick with my palm pre. 😲
