Okay, I posted this in another thread, but I really should have just started a new one. I didn't realize I would be limited to 2000 characters when posting under the Reviews tab. So I am re-posting my original review here, in case anyone who reads my short review wants to read my full version (they can find it easier).
I have had my DINC2 for not quite 2 full days now, and so far I am LOVING it! It is very similar to the original, which as I've said before, is fine by me. It's why I've chosen to stick with HTC for a long time to come. They may not have changed it up dramatically, but it's still a worthy follow-up.
I noticed the Dinc2 has skins now, which I like because it gives you the option of having a different looking interface from...

Nice review. My experience with the Dinc 2 is similar. Signal inside my house is not the greatest, but I'm not having any problems - reception is as good as my LG enV Touch. I don't worry about the "bars" since they seem to fluctuate a lot. Battery life is also quite adequate. I'm in the habit of charging my phones daily and this phone has no problem getting through the day. One thing I notice is the voice dialing over bluetooth is excellent - far better than the LG. The screen is so bright I dimmed it one step to save battery power - still very bright and readable outside. I'm getting used to the tiny power/standby button too. One little thing is it can be hard to tell the top from the bottom. The only noticeable feature on the fr...

I usually keep my screen much dimmer inside as well. On the lowest setting, I can see it just fine inside. I do wish the HTC screen brightness widget had the same modes as the vanilla widget, in that it lets you select low-medium-high-auto brightness. The HTC widget is missing the auto setting. But it's no biggie. I'm already getting use to adjusting it easily since it's just a small widget, there's plenty of room on my home screen for it.
I was messing with my phone a little while ago and I discovered something. Sort of an antenna-gate issue with this phone lol. I noticed if I held the phone up, without covering the bottom of the phone at all, the signal was pretty good, -78 dBm to -86 dBm. If I cover the bottom of the phone with my hand,...

Interesting about the signal strength varying depending on how you hold the phone. If it turns out to not be isolated to your handset you could consider a case. I got an inexpensive bundle through eBay that included a soft, molded case which fits the phone nicely and doesn't add too much bulk. It came with a screen protector as well, which is a good idea.
I didn't know there was a "vanilla" (standard android?) screen brightness widget. Perhaps it can be downloaded? Does the "auto" setting effectively extend battery life?

The "vanilla" screen brightness widget I refer to is a part of the Android power control widget. There are 5 features it controls: wireless, bluetooth, GPS, data sync, and brightness. The DINC2 does have this widget, but I discovered yesterday, that the brightness control does not have the Auto brightness feature for some reason. Not sure why it's not included with the widget on this phone, especially since Auto brightness IS an option in power settings. And yes, setting it to Auto would definitely increase your battery life, specifically if you weren't always manually adjusting the brightness with one of the widgets.
I don't even give a passing thought to cases. I would have been seriously ticked off to be one of those iPhone owners who h...

Any idea if changing the screen brightness to "auto" in the power settings overrides the widget settings? I've set it to auto but it's hard to tell if it's working. If it is working it isn't reflected in the widgets settings AFAICT.
I understand about cases. I stopped using the case on my enV Touch because it made the phone too bulky, but the Dinc 2 is thin enough that it may not be a problem for me. I'm using a soft silicon case at the moment which should provide good protection against small shocks. It doesn't look very classy though and I may change it out for a hard shell case with a rubberized coating.
I continue to notice that the signal strength "bars" vary a lot in my home - perhaps more than the enV Touch - but it doesn't...

Yes, changing it to auto in the settings will override it until you use the widget again. I haven't decided if I will use a case yet. I took my phone in to a store today to compare signals. Mine got a signal just as good as the one in the store, and occasionally a little better. They were never more than about 3 dBm apart. And I still haven't had any dropped calls or data loss, not to mention the call quality has been great as well. So, I think I will be holding onto this one. 🙂

Thanks for the great review. I've been considering this phone. I have the Incredible 1. I'm curious to see how the 2 compares to the 1 in terms of battery life. I love my Incredible 1, but the battery life is terrible. That's my one and only gripe with the phone.

The battery is definitely better than the DINC1. My husband has to charge his about twice a day. I could probably get 2 full days out of mine if I wasn't constantly playing with it, but I don't like to let it go much past halfway, so I usually just charge it each night. I won't really know how good the battery fares under my normal use until it's newness wears off for me lol. Not the best, but still better. 🙂

I am sorry to bother you with this question. I read your long review on HTC Incredible 2. I am very impressed with it. So I thougfht that you might be able to help me on an issue that I have with the Incredible 2.
On the World Clock page on my Incredible 2, the Current location is set to America/Detroit. However, I am currently in Virginia. I have tried to change the current location on the World Clock but couldn't do it. Do you by any chance know how to fix this problem? Thanks!
