WCDMA 850

dabbler

I am a T-Mobile customer and have been comparing the two US GSM carriers. What puzzles me is the WCDMA 850 that is generally not offered on T-Mo phones except ones by Motorola. However, all AT&T phones seem to have it, regardless of the manufacturer. So I wonder what kind of data traffic is using WCDMA 850 and where. Anyone?

AT&T uses both 850 and 1900 for umts, and is migrating more and more towards 850 for better building penetration.

Thanks. I just wonder why T-Mobile doesn't think about it.

I don't think T-Mobile owns that much spectrum in that frequency.

It must be only enough for GSM 850, I guess. Too bad.

Yea. I guess it does suck.

On a side note, in regards to whatever spectrum reports we read, take a look at this site. It shows, as of mar 2010, how much spectrum the major 4 carriers hold and so forth.
