got the lx5550, the vx6000 cable, but can't use bitpim

well, i took Crumps Brother's advice and got a vx6000 cable, but now when i try and get data from phone, inside bitpim, i get an error about my phone not responding. i've got winxp, if someone could walk me through exactly what to do to be able to use the cable?

I was able to place MP3 ringers on my phone using the vx6000 cable & BitPim. When you open BitPim make sure you tell it that your using the LG 4500. Then simply drag & drop your files into the corresponding window, i.e. Ringtones/Wallpaper/Calendar. With the MP3 ringers you have to use an editing program and chop up the MP3 to about 10-15 seconds because the file size is larger than the 5550's internal memory.
I also run on WinXP, but I had no problems at all. Just make sure your BitPim is set to the 4500 and you should be good.

can't seem to upload the ringtones. i installed the drivers that came with the cable, and bitpim 0.7.18. put my phone on data in always, set the port to "Prolific USB-to-Serial (COM 3)" put the phone type as lx4500 dragged the 10 second mp3 and some midi's into the ringtone tab. clicked on data->send phone data->ringtone->add and i keep getting an error:
