LG LX-5550 / VX-5550

When I'm downloading the ringtones, I see some that say "poly". Does this mena that only the titles with "poly" after them are polyphonic, and all the others are mono?

I purchased a data cable for the VX6000 but unfortunately it didn't come with any drivers. Anybody know where I can get drivers so I can use BitPim with this phone?

Does anyone know how many names you can store in voice recogintion? Also, does it a use a computer or your voice to recognize your phonebook?

well, i took Crumps Brother's advice and got a vx6000 cable, but now when i try and get data from phone, inside bitpim, i get an error about my phone not responding. i've got winxp, if someone could walk me through exactly what to do to be able to use the cable?

THE LG LX 5550 PHONE BITPIM AND DATA CABLE GUIDE!

I am using 0.7.18 of BITPIM

STEPS:

1. Purchase LG6000 Data cable from New Egg - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp ?description=75-551-101&depa=0
2. Install Driver CD that comes with the Data Cable. Restart computer, when you get to the desktop and windows is finished loading, Plug in cable and phone to USB port. If it asks for more drivers, let it search automatically, It should find the CD in the drive and take the drivers from there. You may need to restart again.
3. Download and install BITPIM from the following site: http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/
4. Inside of BITPIM, go into settings and tell the program your phone is an LG LX4500 from the drop down menu.

i already have a plan...and looking into a new phone, but if i do find this phone anywhere, i have to get a new plan. anyone know where i can get just the phone?
i want the silver/white one, cause i dont like the red one.

Is anyone having problems with their screen and sound. With mine, the sound during a call will come through only every once and a while so i have to use the speaker phone just to call people. Then, my screen started going out and it will either go out or become jumbled. Any such luck with fixing that problem? Supposedly LG is supposed to be coming up with a fix but none has happened yet.

I have had this phone for about a week and love it so far.

BUT........GOOD LORD!!!! does anyone else think the user manual is woefully inadequate? I would personally like more detail and examples like how to use features not just how to turn them on.

I have been to LG's website hoping there would be more detail to no avail. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

OK here is my question. To assign a downloaded ring to an entry in my phonebook. Can I? I cannot figure it out.

I've been looking for this on Ebay but cannot find one. They charge too much in the Alltel store, so where can I get this cheaper? Unless they don't make one for this phone yet?

I'm new to AllTel and the LG LX5550, and am looking for software to manage phone features from my desktop PC. LX5550 features such as calendar, phonebook, ringtones, etc.

I've tried LGE's PC Sync and Connectivity software....Sync only manages phonebook, very primitive app. The Connectivity software had a glitch that the hardware wizard stalled out on the serial port search, and did not progress to the USB ports, failing to find the phone.

I've had a Samsung 8500 with a freeware software package SCHPU that worked great off my COM1 port. Very robust piece of software considering freeware.

Would it be worth the money to upgrade the factory battery to a longer lasting one for this phone? And where could I find one at a good deal.

I'm considering buying this phone and have checked out the USB data cable and all the threads about wallpapers. Does this phone allow you to effortlessly upload new wallpapers and ringtones via USB data cable from your PC? I noticed that Alltel isn't the best service out there for multimedia phones.

ok, i didnt even make a code, and i put one of the number as secret, but now i cant make it normal again without the lock code. how do i find my lock code?

For things like Wallpaper and Contact IDs, what are the proper sizes that they have to be? I have a one wallpaper on my phone that was 128x128. It works as a wallpaper, but cuts the edge off slightly. I'm not even sure what it takes to get a contact ID to show up. I've tried a few different resolutions but they never seen to show up. Anyone have any ideas?
