What are some the ways you save battery life on this phone besides the smart actions??

Taking widgets on the home screen that are constantly loading. this is the main cause of battery drain. if you have a lot of widgets on the home screens then thats going to affect your battery because these widgets are constantly running.

I use two things, even though people tell me they dont work... I think they do. I downloaded 2X battery, it kills the internet when my screen goes dead and advanced task killer, and set it on the second highest setting (I forget what its called).
I tend to get between 10 - 12 hours of battery with normal use. What battery life are you getting?

I've been running ATK on my D3 for several months and my phone is not "screwed up". I'm sure you just read that on the internet somewhere and assumed it must be true. 😕

well your assumption would be wrong... although if you want to search the internet you would find that I wouldn't be the only person that feels that way (which I will acknowledge doesn't make me right).

Why not use a task killer? I use one along with juice defender I get great battery life.

I will not disagree that it helps with battery life...but it's not worth what it does to the software on the phone.
Unfortunatly the effects aren't instant, but over time it "decays" the programming in the phone from the constant start up/shut down... believe it or not, your phone actually needs some things to run
I deal with this everyday, I'd be willing to say that 90% of the people I see that have a problem with their android device have a task killer
I'm not the most technical of people, but feel free to use google the information as there are people that understand the problem way better than I do.
Remember, your android phone is NOT Windows based but rather Linux based... a huge difference as to what a "running program" rea...

As someone who troubleshoots, repairs and sells phones to make a living, I agree with you. Task killers are generally a bad idea. I would estimate that about 85% of the phones I work on that are having software issues have some type of task killer/battery extender/anti-virus app on them.
They don't always seem to undeniably be the root of the issue, but they are there most of the time something goes wrong.
Also, depending on what setting you use ATK on, it can actually make your battery WORSE.

if you use ATK you will NOT get your SW update it will be blocked .... android OS since 2.2 was released there are no need to kill tasks android will only run 6-8 at a time it will stop apps from running when the internal memory gets low...... you ask why the phone shows so may running android made it were your apps are ready at the touch of the screen so this is OK ...ADVANCE TASK KILLER or any variation are bad they shut down the cell service among other things you may miss a few calls because f it .....
