GPRS connection speed

I have a USB cable connecting my phone to my laptop and using it as a modem to connect to the internet. I'm running T-Mobile internet service as my provider. It says I'm connected at 115.2 kbps. How is my connection speed listed as that high? Is it just the phone that has a better connection speed than a Sierra aircard, which is supposed to only connect at 56K?

The speed you see is the modem to laptop USB speed. The GPRS speed will be aboiut 35-45 kbps at best. The phone is a 4/2 rate phone so 48k is as fast as it can go.
