Didn't HTC mention 4.1 updates in October?

I want to say I saw an article a while ago which stated that HTC committed to updating a variety of their current devices to 4.1 by the end of October. I'm a One X user myself and I'm anxiously awaiting Jelly Bean.

Yes but it breaks root access...

... and eliminates any possibility of unlocking the bootloader, at least for now.

ATT, please stop trying to prevent people from modifying their own phones! We paid for them, we own them, we should be able to do with them as we see fit. It doesn't cost you anything.

Poor Apple ...

All they managed to do is anger the American consumer. We won't and can't be told what we can or can't purchase. If anything they spiked interest and create demand for a possibly "BANNED" device.

I've been ready for an upgrade for a while and for a moment I considered waiting for the tenative iPhone 5 as the net has it rumored to have a 4" or larger screen and a LTE antenna but this has truly pushed me to take a hard look at the HTC EVO 4G LTE....

Judging by hearing the HTC One X having commercials out..

Why not end subsidies?

I know the consumers would revolt but just offering unlocked, unsubsidized devices would allow the carriers to focus on their networks. I don't have to buy a different TV if i want to switch between cable or satellite or fios.Let device manufactures make devices and allow the customer to choose the device and the network.

Ouch.

Boy, talk about kicking them right in the crotch. You'd think they would have had that 'software workaround' cleared up before the launch of their most important products.

How to protest?

How do we protest this absolute crime? Apple seriously has to be the most successful company in history that gets away with everything.

The Contestants on American Idol were given HTC One X

Last night (5/16) my girlfriend was watching american idol, and they gave all of the "idols" HTC One X phones, I recognized it immediately.

If these phones are "held up" at the border, how is this possible ?

Birds of a feather. One an iSheep and the other a Sprint hater. What they have in common folks? Yep, they're both trolls. Ignore them both.

Could It Be...

That this is a result of Apple's recent litigation against HTC?

I personally have not heard of devices such as these in the past being "Stuck" at customs. I can only think of investigative measures to ensure no patent violations have been breached.

Rich,

I wouldn't put much weight behind what someone said on a forum, those genius's there are informing customers they can cancel the order which has been indicated numerous times, it actually can't. The time window for that option passed.

Here's my personal opinion. Sprint doesn't want to refund the money because we had a ton of orders of prices varying from $199.99+tax - $549.99+tax. You wouldn't want to start the flood gates of refunds and canceling orders until it is 100% that the phone will not see the light of day.

The legal process is slow.

But now, finally, we're starting to see the effects of the patent hoopla between the phone manufacturers. It's not cool 👿
