GSM Mode Not Functioning
I'm and administrator with a large O&G exploration company, and we recently bought several of these phone for our int'l travelers. Some seem to work just fine overseas, while others disconnect from the GSM service after the number being called is "sent." Anyone have a clue as to what's going on? Two of my guys have had this problem in Indonesia, as well as Spain.

A: In standby mode, press the left soft key for MENU, then press 7 for SETTINGS, 1 for PHONE MODE. The following options appear in the display:
Verizon (CDMA) Int'l (GSM)
Use the navigation keys to highlight the desired mode of operation, then press OK on the keypad. A dialogue box appears in the display asking to change modes. Press the left soft key for YES to change modes, or press the right soft key for NO to return to the PHONE MODE options list. If YES is selected, the phone restarts and powers up in the selected mode of operation

As pointed out in an earlier reply, you have to manually switch the phone to the proper mode (i.e. GSM or CDMA). If that's not the problem, there's another possibility, which was a problem with my phone. Specifically, Verizon has to register the SIMM card with Vodaphone, which handles their GSM service. Mine had not been registered. When I called, it would simply hang. I had to call from a landline in Italy and was on the phone for about 1/2 hour (nice). Anyway, the tech had me take the SIMM card out and read the number to him. He then input the number into the system and within about 30 minutes it worked fine (and I mean really fine as I've mentioned in an earlier post).
