i followed all of the steps from howard forums but i am still having trouble...the pix message i recieve says there is no sound, what went wrong????
...
this is what i figured out. the mp3 clip needs to be less than 10 seconds, and at 56kbps quality. then change it from .mp3 to .mid and upload it to vzwpix.com. from there send it to your phone. open the text and select options > save sound or whatever. its been working for me. ive got 6 i have done myself, which is great because i love drum and bass music and these kinds of ring tones can only be purchased if you live in europ. so its nice that i can do it my self. 🤣

hey DnB
I've made MP3 ringers that are 30 secs. Just experiment. Btw, my 30 sec ones just happen to be DnB Tunes! Yup, I LOVE DnB too! Let me know and I'llz hooks ya up!
...
how are you making them 30 sec? what bitrate are you encoding them at? ive been encoding them at 56kbps. the ones i made were only 10 seconds, but when set as a ringer, they will loop for all 30 seconds of the ringing before the call forwards to voice mail. I got )EIB( - 4days, edrush and optical's bacteria (the ed rush remix), and some dj ss and twisted individual tones i acutally downloaded from the dnbarenas own collection of dnb ringtones. just saved the samples to my harddrive (the sampels were in mp3 format) and then renamed them .mid and they worked great! hit me up on soulseek in the digitaldnb room!
...
after you rename them, then how do you get them to your phone?
...
mail them to your phone number at vzwpix.com (1234567890@vzwpix.com) as an attachement. When the message comes through, open it, press the Options soft key, select save, select save as tone. It will then become available in the ringtone list, but will have a name like AR2 (which you can rename).
I found that the bitrate had to be 24kbps or above. 16 kbps would not play for me.
Theoretically, you can attach multiple ringtones, but according to tech support, the total size of attachments must be < 100 kb. I have sent single attachments that were 120kb with no problem.

I thought I put this in the 9900 forum but not sure, I know I put it in the v710 forum.
I hope this helps a little, for those of you who know or have read it sorry.

I dont know if you all know about this 30 sec mp3 free music clip trick or not, but here it is. I can not take credit for this, I actually found it on another forum and think its worth spreading.
For free 30 sec mp3 music:
-Go to Walmart.com, search under Music, do any kind of specific search like sound effects or broad search like rock.
-Click on any album and scroll down, walmart allows you to listen to 30 seconds of almost every song on every album.
-To listen first just left click on the side ...

Well...I tried this, but when the message comes to my phone, the phone indicates "unsupported contenet type". What is going on?
I also noticed the phone is displaying the file as "midi" not "mid". Is this the problem??? Thanks.
...
I think the file is saved as .asx not .mp3, can anyone check this to see if i am correct. if this is the case i think it wont work, i wonder if there are any other websites that this can be done on.

Can you still dl songs even if you disabled txt/pic messaging, but still have web?
...
I am not sure what you mean by disable, but even if your not signed up for a pic messaging plan, you can pay as you go for $0.25 per message sent or received.
...
I had to disable my txt/pic msging because I had mobile IM and it was generating unwanted txt messages to my account. I either had the option of putting a txt msg package back on or turn of txt/pic msging completely until they fix the software issue. So I turned off all txt/pic msging...and they will notify me of the software upgrade when it becomes available. Until then, I have no way of sending/receiving txt/pic messages.
...
Then your stuck.
The data cable does not currently allow you to load pics/tones.
...
Awww ☹️ thanks anyway though
