Is it possible to download other clock options etc for the outside display? I know that I can change to image but just want highly visible time and date. Why does this LCD require a backlight unlike the LG4500?

The 4500 didn't need a backlight because it was only a BLACK and WHITE display. 🙄

Everyone now wants a color display, but then the tradeoff is that ALL color displays use backlight.

Remember the only "green" main displays on the older phones, they didn't need a backlight for those either. Color has changed it all for all the phones, inside and out! 😉

You can chnage the color of the front display. The Red with the white center and the black time is quite bri...

My mistake on the first entry. The LG4500 does use a backlight, but when it is off the contrast is still high so that the clock shows up. Is there any way to adjust the font size for anything on this phone?

As I mentioned, the 4500 is a black and white display. The 9900 is a color display and requires backlighing to display enough contrast. Most all new color cell phones are that way now.

You can try the different setting and download your own background to find the best contrast but I think you will still need to turn on the backlight for proper lighting of the time.

It is easy to do and actually convenient. When you pick up the phone to check the display, just tap one of the v...

I'm using a leather cse to protect the phone and the outside buttons are really hard to press. I end up adjusting the ringer volume. I have inverted the outside display which helps with reading the time/date. Alas, I have accepted the limits. The speaker on th LG4500 blows this one away in terms of volume. The screen on the CDM9900 blows away the LG though.

Except for seeing who is calling, and it lights up then anyway, the outside screen is used only for the time and date. I found the best and most convenient way to tell the time, is to wear a watch! 😁

And it doesn't need any backlighting or removal from a pouch! 😉

I took a picture of the light gray head liner on the inside of my car and use that as a background. I also use a photo of the unlined side of a red index card. Both are quite visible.

I use the the black background with the white numbers set to small digital most of the time however.

After trying many options I've just learned to live with it.

You can take a picture of anything, or download one, and use it for the background for the front LCD.

After the picture is in your "Gallery" just click options and assign it to the sub LCD.

This phone is very customizable and the nice thing about it, it ALL works well! 😁

I guess that is why this forum has little to talk about like all the complaining you read in all the other forums! 🤣
