Motorola A630

Since you work for Cingular (or anyone that works for Cingular), why has Cingular had ringtones and games list for this phone since December and no phone yet? Cingular still has the games, ringtones, etc. listed for the a630 and still Cingular doesn't sell it yet!!! If this phone doesn't come out this time, I'm going to go ahead and purchase one of the unlocked quad band a630s at MCO. I'm tired of waiting. I tried the LG F9100 and it has too many limitations on the keyboard.

From what I have been able to gather there was a problem with the IM client. Since the device is IM oriented Cingular couldn't exactly release a phone where the main feature is buggy of even missing. T-mobile's device is probably setup with different software and they were jsut lucky to get a device that either was setup jsut the way they wanted or they cut corners to get their version to the mkt faster. Thats the best Explination I can give but, I did jsut check the inventory sheet and still show as ship dat of 03/20/2005

Sounds good... It's been a long time coming. I won't get my hopes up because we have been let down so many times with the release of this phone. I think this is a game Motorola plays. They did it with the V600. They even did it with the MPX 220. Who knows how many other models that they did this or will do this in the future?

Anyway, I know they must be planning on it being released at some point or another because it has the ringtones, screensavers, agmes, etc. already on the media mall--for months now.

I don't think that guarantees anything. I'm sure Cingular could very easily cancel the A630. I hope not but something tells me that there not "working out the kinks" anymore. They may just be waiting for this baby to fade away. Why would they wait this long? I hope and pray I'm wrong cause my buddy just bought this phone with T-Mobile and its super small and sexy. I can't wait to see him this weekend so I can test out the camera and see if it has a notepad of some sort.

😡 i hope all goes well withthe test on your buddies a630. im dyin to get one on cingular. tha whole family and friends on the same network is anchorng me to cingular..anyway i hope you re wrong too. peace

QuickeSilver, what the latest you've heard. What the status on your inventory sheet?

Showing that there are 604 in the warehouse, but still no purchase orders. I have asked around from people in Tech to our Call Center Directors, Tech says we aren't getting it due to the phone not being able to hold on to a call with more than 40% signal degredation. I am still getting mixed signals, best bet right now would be to wait until 03/21/2005 and see what happens at that point. Basically I have given up on this phone myself, UMTS should be coming up later this year and Cingualr is getting rdy to start offering WiFi service with data plans soon, so I jsut gonna wiat and get a decent Wifi capable phone later this year.

got it in a barter...good trade though. guy works as moto repair tech and had one brand new.i wish i had more to share.

i was told that you can special order this phone with cingular in the california market. i actually just called a cingular store out there and the guy i talked to said that they could order it. and that it worked on the 850 frequency, which is what i need. he said to call back on monday morning and talk to the tech guy to get one ordered. i'm gonna call back on monday, so we'll see if it works out. i will definitely post what happens.
