Cingular A630 dummy phone
Hey,
I walked into a cingular store today just to check out the other phones in case I bail on the A630 when on my way out (speak of the devil) the A630 was there proudly on display. It was a dummy phone,but I picked it up, opened it, played with the keyboard and pretended it was real. The sign holder next to it that shows the price was blank. I asked the rep how much it was and she said (shock!) it's not out yet. She said it was coming out next month tho. I asked how much it was going to be when it comes out "next month" (wink, wink) and she checked her price sheet and told me $209.99. So does that mean anything that they had the dummy phone on display there? I thought its supposed to mean something when they get the dummy phone. Bu...

I think that is a very accurate statement. While I must admit that is very encouraging that you saw a dummy phone, I wouldn't be surprised if it was already there before Cingular decided to pull the phone. Thanks for the tidbit though.

I called the Cingular store on Lavista Rd. and they proudly stated that the A630 is coming out soon! On my way back to work I stopped at a Cingular store on N.Druid Hills and the guy there said the phone will not be released. If Cingular stores 10 miles apart have different versions, what are we to think????????? :

I just checked out the same cingular store again. The dummy phone was still there. I asked the rep (a different one) and she told me the phone will be out in 2 weeks. I'm not putting a lot of stock in that but, at the same time, if the phone was "oficially" cancelled, wouldn't they know about that? Anyways, just thought I'd pass that on.

My rep just informed me that he just had a converstation with mortorola and as of now there's no a630 for cingular. Cingular nad Motorola apprently cannot come to an agreement on a contract for the phone.. Since my PDA is getting old and I'm really, really, really close to purchasing the treo 650 to replace both my old phone AND PDA. I'm going to see my rep. tomorrow to check out the treo and most likely will be walking out of the store with it.

I emailed Motorola and i asked if the A630 was actually coming out. I expected them to say no it will no longer be released for cingular but they person who answered my question said that it will come out but they're just not sure when the date will be.Since it's Motorola i'm sure they know what they're talking about.
